NewBe to the sportbike world....

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello...I'm from Baytown, Tx which is in the suburbs of Houston. I am new to the sport and would like to learn from others on here how to stay a safe and fun driver. I have purchased a 2007 charcoal R1 from my brother. I have ridden the bike from time to time but not as much as I will be doing now that it is mine. At the moment I will be investing my money on good ridding saftey gear and possibly if there is a place close by some ridding classes. I'm the type that likes pushing everything to its limit but with this toy the consequences can be life changing so I want to learn to crawl before I run. That being said the bike is pretty much stock with the exceptiong of slip on exhaust and here pretty soon a 16/45 conversion because the current chain is pretty rusty. So if anyone has any advice or pointers please feel free to share your knowledge

Welcome.
Go take MSF, get gear, throttle control.

R1 can quickly kill you if dont respect the power.

Agreed, a liter bike is very unforgiving. The ice cream will turn to in the

matter of seconds.
