for the money you can get Dainese which is alot better. Icon kinda at the bottom IMO, but have see first hand people go down in them and they did their job, just looked beat up after that, versus some of aplinstars and Dianese's stuff.

+1, i dont see why those icons are so expensive. Do they even have armor in the shoulders/elbows? How much is that one? I would go with the Dainese.

r u kidding?? 600 for an icon jacket...seriously, geez. I just picked up an entire 1 pc suit for less than that, and a higher quality piece too. pass on the icon, imo. there's better stuff out there.

the skull motorhead is 599 because of the looks, thats all. its basicly a special edition of the regular icon motorhead jacket which goes for about $350. i used to have one of those.

it vented ok, and the jacket and liner were plenty warm enough for winter, even without the liner, it was a little hot for summer, but that goes for all leather.

yes, it has good padding in the shoulders and elbows, better than many other jackets, but the thin foam pad in the back was pretty weak. the jacket was comfortable and fit well, and it also looks good, but theres not anything else good to say about it.

one important feature the icon jackets are lacking is the ability to zip up to leather pants. while the bottom of the jacket has a couple snaps to snug the waist, it doesnt really allow for a custom fit that jackets with straps have. you dont want your jacket riding up in an accident.

the motorhead is an allright jacket for slow paced riding, but dont fool yourself into thinking your going to behave on your bike so you can justify the jacket. and thats for the base $350 motorhead. throw in the extra $250 for posing factor with the skull and your squid factor per dollar ratio doesnt get any better.

i recommend you get a two peice jacket and pants that zip, something new from Joe Rocket or AlpineStar should be perfect for you. itll still look awesome, you will be much better protected and your money will go much further, thats a 3 for 3.

IMO Vanson is the best. If your willing to spend $600 then you really should consider an American made Vanson.
I've had one for 5 years and it still looks almost brand new. It aint gont any poser factor cuz it's the real deal. However you will definately wanna consider perforated leather because it is racing weight and warm.

this is the vanson I have. Perforated is great, quality is top, only thing I don't like is that it bulges in the stomach when seated on the bike. Looks like it was made for fat people.

yeah, it's bad enough that I've thought of taking it to have it tailored. But I'm sure that would be pretty expensive.
