The New(to me) R6 Unveil (pix inside)

Its been a long two years since Ive had a track bike or a ride that I was really happy with. That time is now history. I'm finally back in a place where I could get back out to the track. I'd been looking at the 06+ R6's since they came out. When the time was right I thought Id buy a cheap/wrecked stock R6 and build one from the ground up. Well, I thought about my 03 CBR which I had turned a mint street bike into track only and all the money I lost when I sold it. I came across what I thought to be a really good deal. The next day I gave the info to my CU and made it happen. The bike had been sitting in my garage for a little more than a month while it was tore down, cleaned up, had small changes me as well as the big change (Paint). Before I took possession of the bike I KNEW what scheme I wanted. The 50th Anniversary for Yamaha entering MotoGP...

Here are some threads you might have noticed...

The guy who was going to paint it? The same guy who painted my CBR....Tony Ta with House of Paint Designs. (http://www.motohouston.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=106)

I gave Tony my plastics and told him to do a job that I could afford that would closely replicate the M1. (The R6 plastics/body lines aren't even really close to the M1.)

A short time later, He delivered.. (THANK YOU TONY FOR ALL THE HARD WORK! )

DSC00909fresh

Awesome job, but its missing something..... decals.

Thats where Lisa with 212 Decals(http://www.212decals.com/) came in. I measured everything(got most of them right ) gave her the info and the next day I had them on the bike. They installed with ease except for where the bodywork curved, those can be a pain I don't know how pros adhere decals in a strait fashion on those parts . (THANK YOU LISA FOR THE QUICK TURN AROUND! I wouldn't have made the deadlines with out you!)

I knew I wanted to have some professional shots done for the bike, I know I couldn't do it justice, nor have all the expensive lighting to accomplish what I wanted. Ive known Brett and Paul with Visual Velocity Studios(www.visualvelocitystudios.com) for some time now, and I knew they would be just the crew to pull it off. They also knew I had a deadline to meet to get this done before its first trackday (I still hadn't rode it yet since I bought it a month earlier) After I had to reschedule around my work a few times we finally got together , and they made it happen. They took their time and they knew VISION that I had for the shoot. Here are the results.....

And,for those interested here is the goody list.

AK-20's setup by Jim Cambora
NRC case covers
Dynojet PC3 - Currently tuned for MR9, (I can't afford that ! )
Dynojet Ignition Module
Dynojet Quick shifter
Graves TI Full System
Graves emissions block-off plates
GPR Damper
Vortex Rear Sets
Vortex Clip ons
Renthal Grips
Pazzo Brake/clutch Levers
Vortex/Renthal Sprockets
DID ERV3 520 chain
Traxxion Tank Sliders
Versah Pads
SS Brake Lines
SharkSkinz BodyWork
Zero Gravity Wind shield
Galfer Wave Rotors (red buttons )

PS..

2 weeks ago (after I gave Tony my plastics and 1 month after I picked out what I wanted it painted, I find out that Yamaha will release the R1/R6 in the same scheme for 2012! I guess I should have figured. But I think mine looks better than Yamaha's don't you?
