Looking to rebuild my motor and transmission

I am looking to rebuild my motor and transmission on my 2007 R6, there is a slight knocking and it sounds like I need a revalve in the motor, might as well rebuild tranmission at the same time. Are there any tricks to this, and books/videos/etc? Figured rebuilding my current motor would be cheaper than buying a new motor for $1300.

Here is the original thread about my bike:

Please advise

You honestly have no idea what is wrong with this motor. I doubt its a valve problem. Is it a knock or a tick. Valves move at twice the RPM that crank does. When you say rebuild the tranny are you talking about the clutch?

more of a knock than a tick. Yes, rebuild the clutch. I have a list of parts needed from the quote I got from the dealership.

What do you think it is? After them taking apart the clutch, I know that needs rebuilt. But the noise started around 2500 RPM and would get louder from there and while in nuetral, did the same when in gear too.

The cams actually turn at half the rpm as the crank.

Well, looks like I will just be replacing the motor instead of trying to rebuild it, lol
