Fuel tank cap help...!!!!!


I hate when simple projects turn into booshyte. My fuel tank cap is alil beat up, so i decide to pull it off and paint it so it'll look I'm putting this thing back together and I have some kind've bracket and a spring left after I've put everything back on....I said..eehh it's only 1 spring let me see if I can get it on.....I get the cap back on and the f'n thing refuses to close.....I really really wunna ride tonight and don't want to wait for 2morrow to have to get another one or take it somewhere to have it fixed.....can anyone locate a diagram for a 97 gsxr 600?
