i blame zero tolerance policies meaning "follow rules, regulations and policies first, then if we have time we might teach you something"
i remember back in school a sign saying "this is a zero tolerance classroom. i came to teach i know you came to learn" i remember thinking "no i came because i was forced to come"
if a teacher is being interupted and cannot teach because of a student i blame the parents
if a student isn't learning for any other reason i blame the teacher

"Alright, and A/B student gets to miss 5 days of education because he was being nice!"

It's sounds like the child's original thoughts in regards to his principal were on the mark.

the school system in Mexico is great, actually, teachers don't make teaching, so you kow they are all dedicated individuals ( with the exception of a few pedophiles..lol) and because parents using physical reprimands on children is not uncommon, that helps too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a violent person, but if i have to spank my son to keep him in line, so be it, I just won't do like my dad, he used to use an electrical cord on us.
