The bike is in pieces at Yamaha right now, but either way, I will have to put a grand or more into a bike I just spent my extra money now, now I will have to wait a few to be able to buy a motor for it while I continue to pay for the insurance every month on it. Does insurance cover any of this? I have comp and collision on it.

there are lots of us here that will help you out, doesn't matter we dont know you (yet) but if you would like a second opinion then we are all here to help.. I would go ride all the way up there to just see what she sounds like.. to me it doesn't matter.

like I said.. I would have my buddy that works at a yamaha shop could look at it and see what he thinks.

I would love to hear her run..
Actually 1st was to post this question prior to buying the bike. Maybe someone here (let me rephrase), I am certain someone here would have given you advice prior to the purchase thus saving you all this grief.

Looks like we need to get the bike back to the house and start looking for a donor motor.

Replace the clutch internals since I see that it is open right now. The plates can easily be swapped over to a new motor in the event you need one.

What vandalism? You bought it, rode it, and now it has issues. Nobody vandalizes the engine internals....

Maybe someone knocks it over and causes fairing damage or like...

Wouldn't recommend defrauding the insurance company. They don't like that kind of thing.

You should of just had somebody "borrow" it.

No way in I would jump the gun. Put a clutch in it and put it back together. Its easy work from where it sits right now. You need the clutch in there to diagnose a tranny problem for sure and most likely to diagnose a motor problem accurately.

The noise was when the gears weren't even engaged, revving it in neutral, they just saw the transmission issues when they started taking it apart, would have busted on me eventually.

You likely wont know any more about a 500.00 motor than the one you have now. Most are out of the bikes already. A motor with a warranty will be more than 500.

Do you not have to split the cases on a Yamaha to get to the tranny? Anyone?

Either way, I dont see how they know about the tranny from the pic you posted. They only removed the clutch in the pic.

That was the start of the tear down, they had every gear out of it and found out they had been sanded down.

The mechanic said it looked they sanded down the gear instead of replacing them, I assume because they were warped maybe, no clue really. I just know I got screwed and they forgot to use oil

You must have your parts mistaken. Im assuming they sanded the steel clutch plates. No way they sanded gears.
