The title doesnt say he rode anything. It really wont cost that much to fix the bike. Help from people here will get you a lot father than you would think.

you can try to fight this like the guys are saying.. but the bottom line is that you got a used vehicle and that you will need to prove that he knew and that he sold you this bike this way.
You are not S.O.L... If the seller knew and gave you in writing that he will take care of anything wrong with the bike then you are good to go.. but if he didn't then its going to be a very hard case to beat.

when someone is selling something, it is your job to cover your selfe for later down the road.. take it to a local shop to have it inspected before buying.. ride it before putting money down..

I have customer's that buy used cars here at the lot all the time.. there is a big sticker that says *as no warranty* that means.. you buy it and whatever happens to it its all on you.
this is just the sad true... it really sucks it happened to you and hope for the best..
But I've been there and done that. customer gets a used car and now the check engine light its on and now they are mad because they just got the car? just like how you went to sleed yesterday and now you woke up with a bad cold and wonder WTF?

this is how USED car/bike buying is.. it sucks but thats how it is.. this doesn't mean you're S.O.L...

Well, it's a sad story, but if sale agreement was 'as is, no warranty' that's exactly what it means: as is, no warranty... So you can try and sell it on the same basis or bite a bullet and fix it. It's a craiglist at the end of the day you bought this bike from, this situation should be anticipated in this type of shopping
Good luck with your new adventure whatever you decide to do

No, I don't, but I do know that he should call a consumer law attorney and get their opinion of his options.
