motorcycle lifeflight accident on 290 in HOV

Anyone have any details? Some of our instructors were late getting in this morning and said that there was a bad accident on 290. So far, sounds like a bike moving in the HOV at a decent clip hit the back end of a vehicle that crossed the double white and pulled into the HOV. Few details at this point, other than lifeflight and serious injuries. Hope the rider pulls through.

Im guessing this must be what your talking about?

Quote:
HOUSTON—All inbound lanes of Highway 290 at Telge are shut down after an accident with injuries.

The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m.

Motorists can detour Barker-Cypress to get around the accident.

290 is a shithole. They just added an additional HOV lane but there is no barrier until you get past Hwy 6. They need to do something to protect riders.

Prayers.

If the driver really did cross the double white, I hope he pays dearly for his grevious mistake.

I don't understand how Metro can't foresee these accidents occurring. They need to install those bendy type barriers.

I had a cager pull the same on me last week. It came from the middle lane cut through left lane traffic and in HOV without looking. Thank bikes stop fast.

Prayer goes out to the rider.

I was comeing westbound on 290 this morning at 0820 saw that a car had broke down on the inbound hov. The driver who broke down was trying to guide a metro bus around his car. I was trying to warn the other motorcycles going east in the hov lane, but they just waved.

Hope the rider is ok.

We need to creat a "look out signal".

This is correct, what happened. Rider went to surgery, but is going to be okay. It was serious injury, but he can recover. Not going to violate his privacy with further details, but telling what happened for MH community awareness. Other driver will face consequences.
