This is kinda nuts. Im glad to see the market opening up in Texas, but like some of you, I think there will be some rough spots in the business.
They have bike rental in Cali. When I went to Laguna Seca for the GP I must have seen 100 bike rented from the same place with their sticker all over them, but the biggest bike was a VFR800, aside from that it was all 600s.
GSXR1000s and ZX10s is just maddness!
I ride my 1000 daily and find myself in constant awe of its power and the potential to put my a** on the street with an errant twist of the wrist.

This is a sportbike rental in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Maybe you can inquire with them to get some ideas.

http://www.sportryderrentals.com/

The main reason I would want to rent a bike is to try out something different than what I am riding (from a gift certificate for a b-day, for example) or if my bike was down and I had planned a trip I don't want to miss. It would also be fun to take them to the track.

So, to have a good rental, you need great variety. Sport-tourers, cruisers and some fun bikes, preferrably the latest and greatest.

In general, I would think that people rent bikes for other reasons than they would rent a car. They may be here on vacation or visiting and like to go on a ride with their friend or family member or explore the area on the bike or they may look for other types of bikes to see what they may want to purchase in the future, etc.

How about some hourly rates? I wouldn't mind paying $50 bucks to try out a fun bike for an hour, for example.

How about specials: Ride three bikes in one hour for $75 or something like that. This would be interesting for people who want to try out different bikes for future purchases from a dealer, etc.

The deposits are a bit much. If you can lower them to under $1000, it would be more appealing.

By the way, I LOVE your location. I live just a couple of blocks from there. :icon_bigg

I dont know if this has been thought of or suggested, but if someone does put a bike down it could be repaired as a track bike and be rented for track days.
THAT is something I want to do. I get so jealous of all you guys with track bikes I want to go to some track days and learn to be a better rider...if only somewhere in houston rented track bikes.

correct me if im wrong... but a ninja 250 is 249cc and you dont need an endorsement for 250 cc and less?? right?? so drive that and take your test on it before you get something larger? I mean wasnt that the whole reason for a 250 streetbike was that you dont need the endorsement?

on another subject.... sounds like a plan i would be interested in pushing that 1000 to the limits also, kcuf it... if i wreck it i wont be alive to deal with the reactions right? (lightly joking but i know there are people out there that feel that way, i used to be one of them)

$2000 dont sound to bad, but i would have my lawyer look it over before i rented bc there would have to be alot of fine print and im not ready to hand over $2000 bc of a broken mirror or little scratch.

and +1 to the busa, turbo, juice, and a wrist strap kill switch so i dont blow up your motor when i lay it over at 200+mph

Enjoy a nice weekend. Out of towners on business. Test drive if you are in the market. Bike rallies. Or to get your speed rush. I myself know that they will be run hard. Shoot, If i rented one, i'd be on it pretty hard now and then. Lets be real. But proper maintenance will take care of that. My budget will only allow me a certain amount of bikes. If it works, then I will add variety of course. This is just a venture and I'd hope it works. Its good and bad. Depends on your personal motivation. Anyhow, I thought Houston was big enough to try it. Not to mention the surrounding areas. Plus, being a several time owner of Ninjas, we have a pretty big bike following down here. But again, I appreciate the response guys. I'll be located out off 290 and Jones. I'll keep it posted on when I get everything lined up.
And of course a MH discount right?? , ill rent the Duc with my discount

Its a good idea and it has its pitfalls. I wish you luck and hope you get it off the ground.
I do see a market for it. Houston is big enough for it.

Will the renter be responsible of liability insurance or would that be covered in the rental?
