I have a 02 taco, and assuming you get the tacoma with the short bed, the bike will fit...with the tailgate down....the back tire sits just before the middle of the tailgate. I brought my bike back from NC and it was fine...

Just throwing it out there. If your going to go ahead and do such a trip make sure to take your time. There is some great riding between there and here. At the very least, take some vacation time and explore the blue ridge mountains.

I want to go to the blue ridge very badly, but the problem is, I will not have help loading the bike again in the truck.

Thanks, I am also looking in to a Tundra. If it does not work out, then I will be left with the Tacoma.

buy a ramp (80-120 bucks) Loading and unloading is very easy.

edit: go buy CycleCynch over the Canyondancers IMO.

Put it in sideways if it doesn't fit straight, with your kickstand down on a pice of plywood so your fork seals dont blow up on the bumpy ride.
