For the street I'd go with the R1. Cheaper maintenance and much more comfortable.

Never had either one but im curious why you chose the R1 vs the 848

The 848 is basically equivilent to a 600

Really? How many of you have ever hit 15k mikes on a bike? Maybe a hand full at best.

As mentioned, two very different bikes. Personally, I'd go with a naked bike or maybe a big tard (super
Duke) and break from the pack. However, if those were my only choices, I would go with the and make sure to hit the track.

I would go with the R1. I never ridden the 848 but to me the R1 would be the choice for street riding.

I can't speak for other people, but currently I'm at 39,908 miles on my bike. And iPhone > Android. I made the mistake of switching and can't wait to get back to Apple.

That color scheme looks great on the r1.
Having been down the ducati road, I think I'd choose the bike next time around. The ducs are great bikes, but they're built for the track. The r1 would make a better street bike hands down.

interesting, most of you answer with reason, same as I would choose, but truth is choosing a bike has a strange combination of reasoning and lets call it ""...
I am having real hard times deciding...

Taking looks out of the equation. Have you thought about something a bit more comfy on the street? Both manufacturers make some killer more street friendly bikes with similar motors but with dirt bike bars.
