I'm torn between two bikes...

Alright, as I approach the date to make my next bike purchase I have gotten myself in a bit of a snafu. I had ultimately decided to go with the new 2011 Hayabusa but when I made a trip to Team Manusco (newly relocated to the old Eximports building) I stumbled upon a Kawasaki ZX-14R. For a while I was at odds with the overall design of the bike but when I looked at it yesterday there was something that I liked about it. As far as asthetics go I prefer the lines of the Hayabusa over the Kawi. But, I am at a loss on performance and build quality. I see Busa's on the road all the tme but only see a few Kawi's. Really, it makes no real difference who rides what, but it does make me wonder as to preference. After a little research, I found that back in 2006 the shootout between the two bikes placed the Kawasaki over the Busa http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/9/584/...-Hayabusa.aspx. But in the newest comparison between the two placed the Busa over the Kawa http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/9/484/...-Hayabusa.aspx. Again, I am aware that most reviews can be bias but, I find myself going back in forth between the two. I guess what I am really looking for is information from anyone that has ridden the bikes and what there feelings were. I am moving up from my R1 to this, and eventually to the VMAX.

Lol! Of course I do!!! But since my R1 was stolen I don't want to replace it with the same bike. I decided to go "bigger and badder". Besides, I'm a pretty big guy and I thought I looked silly on my old bike.

I'm a Kawi guy and hate Suzuki's but even I would choose the Busa over the ZX14. The 14 is just too ugly.

The Busa does look a bit better, but with a few mods the 14 can start to look really good. Their about to unveil the redesigned ZX-14, so maybe you'll like that one more. If not the prices on the current body style will drop quite a bit to clear out old stock.

My problem with today over 1k is that they make less power than the kawi and bmw 1000s.

The new one may be more powerful. If not it still has comfort and torque over true supersports.

Liking what I see so far on that new ZX.
Throw some hard bags and risers on that thing and you'd have one of a street bike.

The 2012 bore and stroke numbers put the cc's at 1440. The 1000's will have to play catch-up again.

I owned a 2007 ZX-14 for 3 years with about 18k miles in seat time. I traded my 2006 ZX6R 636 in for the zx14 after riding one in the last IMS show. Reason I picked it over the busa at the time was the guage lay out. I liked that it had MPG, Miles to empty, INST miles and a bunch of other gadgets that the current busa didnt have. My wife loved riding with me after i added Sargent seats and it carried passengers very well....

I did light sport touring adding some soft 3 piece bags that could carry a load of things, commuted, and even tracked it 4 times at MSRH. It did it all although I warped the brakes on it at the track because it was just to heavy and I was braking alot....

It is fast, has a but load of torque but was heavy at slow speeds, the current liter bikes weigh less, put out the same if not more power so if thats what your looking for then the zx14 aint the answer.

Overall I loved it and would still choose it over the busa....you cant go wrong with either one really and it should prbably come down to which one you like as far as looks.

The zx14 is better than Busa all the power I thought about getting one if something happened to my Zx10.

If you can wait until next spring, get the new ZX-14R. Otherwise, it is a toss up between the current Busa and ZX-14. Of the current liter bikes, the BMW is tops in my opinion. You can get aftermarket rearsets to give you more legroom if that is an issue with the liter bikes.

havent read all the post but Ive chased down a friend on a busa on some backroads and dont let anyone tell you that thing cant make a corner because they can.

Great bikes but get a good deal, I know of 2 right now around 5500 and 6K with almost no miles.

Found this in my inbox. (not trying to spoil the anticipation)

For some reason I think the new Kawa will be a thing of beauty. According to Future Motorcycles:

"The machine will incorporate many cutting-edge technologies, including electronics from the latest superbike ZX-10R, as well as elements of the decisions of a large touring motorcycle GTR1400.

New ZZR1400 gets, in particular, an advanced system of ABS K-ACT, the traction control system K-TRS. Engineers also worked on the engine to increase thrust at medium and low speeds, and a little over magic settings."

Who knows. I just want to get back on two wheels. And trust me, this is not a Busa vs. Kawasaki debate (SuperMike don't do that). I just want a fly azz bike is all...

2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R is here

Not bad. I expected a bit more though. But I do like the subtle changes
