Petition for reduced rates for Motorcycles on Tollways

OK, it is started. Lets see how many signatures we can get. We need to get this sent to additional Texas bike sites.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/l...s4twowheelers/

Lets rock on this one and see what happens. Once we get enough signatures we take it up a level.

Reduced to what?
I'm just sayin', seems like a rate or amount of reduction should be included. Unless I missed something.

I'm thinkin' it should include something like "reduced to %50 of the tolls a passenger car pays". Or make it say "reduced to $0.75".
Not tryin to criticize, just sayin...

It does say half a car, but since rates are different I could not put a specific amount

Ok sorry I guess I missed that. I just "knew" that whoever decides these things, would want to know exactly what we were talking about.
Otherwise they might say, "There we reduced it $0.10. That'll shut'em up"! lol

'preciate you starting this thing.

I signed. Come on yall sign up!!!

If all the people that posted to the original toll thread signed up we would be moving forward. We still need to get this posted to the harley, vstrom, R1, TSB forums and so on. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction

Why Should ANYONE Pay For Tolls?

Why should there be toll roads to begin with? Shall I list all the forms of taxes that we pay out to build and maintain our roads? And other means...
  • Fuel Tax
  • Federal Funds (in which we tax payers send money to the Federal Government)
  • State Highway Fund Revenue Bonds
  • Short Term Notes
  • Motor Vehicle Registration Fees
  • Motor Vehicle Registration Fees for Special Vehicles
  • Sales Tax on Lubricants (no no no.....not that kind of lubricant)
  • Commercial Transportation Fees
  • State Traffic Fines
  • Driver Responsibility Program Surcharges
  • Motor Vehicle Inspection Fees
  • Drivers License Fees
  • Driver Record Information Fees

P.S. Signed

From what I remember, the tollway was paid off a LONG time ago. Maybe thats why they built more tollway now over here on East Houston,BW8 towards 59 north.

Ever since I moved here recently, I was expecting a lack of toll if not at least a reduced rate for motos for obvious reasons like lesser congestion, emissions, fuel consumption, etc.

Guess not.
This would make much more sense.

Signed.

I didn't forget about it in the other toll thread. But yeah, that's why the voters approved it in the first place. We were told there would only be tolls until it was paid for. When will voters learn, once you approve a new tax, fee, etc, it will NEVER go away.

Originally it was also going to create more jobs by having toll both operators. now what's happening? It's all automated.

By the way guys, you can see how many signatures there are by clicking on the "signatures" tab on top of the site. Let's make this thread a sticky and get it up to 1000!

There are probably a couple of scenarios but we need at 1000 signatures.

1- We also get a news station involved as well. A phone call or inquiry to someone like Wayne Dolcefino to just as the question
2- we take the petiion and signatures to the main offfice of HCTRA and see that it gets in the hands of Art Storey or Peter Key, they are about as high up as you can go in the hctra organization. (This is where we should have a mass of bikes show up).
3-and the most likely scenario we get this added to a ballot for the voters to decide. (and i am working on that). And another reason to have the cagers think fondly of riders.
4-we should also call the hctra and find out their justification
5-Need to understand the toll structure a bit more as well, Since they have raised the tolls without voters approval they should be able to lower as well.

Make no mistake doing something like this takes time perseverance and a coordinated effort. The more people involved, the more signatures, and phone calls the better.

Thats a start anyway.. Since 9/10 the date of the original posting we are up to 33 signatures. A start be we really need more.

Suggestion copy the link and add it to any emails you send (not from work), we should do a video for youtube, and if there are any tweeters out there use that technology as well. Any marketing helps and it would be excellent to have a few volunteers to assist in some planning.
