you could post polls on several forums. national based ones. check harley/cruiser based forums and sport bike ones too.

do the poll on age and helmet usage on it all and put it together. then deliver the info!

btw this board does have the option for polls. check the box "add poll" and hit submit like you already did when you hit submit new thread. after that it will prompt you to put in the poll question and how many lines you need . can make it public or private too so others can see who is wearing gear!!! lol

Go to General Discussion (moto related), click New Thread,
scroll to the bottom section and you will see poll options...

Not wearing a d.o.t approved helmet while riding a motorcycle is stupid just like using drugs.

Twtex is a good mix. If you get stats from there, here, a harley forum, and a touring forum, I think you would have a decent sample.

BTW... 39, and ALWAYS wear a helmet. Dirt or street. Own 6 of them.

Here is a thread about who does and doesnt wear helmets on a cruiser site. I think you will see many more "cruiser" riders without a helmet then you will sport bikes.

http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/ri...tml#post425320

I am 30 have 2 cruisers and never owned a helmet. I recently got married and have a little girl who is about to turn 6. Just found out I have another one in the oven so I am in the market for a helmet now. Oddly I make my daughter wear one on her fourwheeler no matter what yet I have rode for years without on.

I have known a few people killed in motorcycle accidents and others hurt badly. I dont feel its a question of if it will happen but more when and how bad it will be. A helmet is coming more and more desirable to me as I get older and realize how important my life is, or more honestly how quickly it can be taken.

Everybody has good ideas...but don't forget that you can collect lots of information and then sort them into different groups to compare what groups wear lids.

Keep it simple and keep it private. Public poll will no work for a statistical analysis...data can be influenced rather easily.

I'd collect at a minimum:
helmet y/n, type of helmet (ie. full face, turtle shell), age, bike, experience yr's, riding style (ie. aggressive, cruise)

Then your survey should provide you with an excellent opportunity to prove you professor's bias wrong (at least within the resident population, which consists mostly of enthusiasts). I say go for it. Do the age breakdown. Demonstrate that his presumption is false for this group.

45, 29 years experience, always wear a helmet regardless of style of bike, and I've owned everything except for an "adventure" bike.

<------35
go to corner store (a block away)
(helmet, jacket, short gloves, boots)

weekend back road
(helmet, suit, boots, long gloves)

if i am correct, as log as you have health insurance or life insurance, you do not need to wear helmet riding on the street
