I got that same "I rode mine. '11" patch when we went out there in June, only I did ride all the way out there and back. That was a long ride that had me considering the purchase of a truck.

Riding cross country on the Aprilia would have been a baaaad idea, I wouldn't have had any left! It was good having a truck after almost being killed by the drink driver head on incident on I-10 in Louisiana.

yeah, I have done a couple of 2-3k mile trips where I average 400-500 miles per day, but am finding that especially with a destination like tail of the dragon, it's much less fun to already be exhausted and a little sick of being on the bike when you arrive. I can't imagine trying to do a ride like that with a seat like you have on your ape.

I really didn't mean that to be a criticism or anything, honestly if I'd had access to a truck I would have driven as well. Probably should have included the smiley in the original post...

What brand of paint and clear coat did you use? Was it from a can or gun?

From a can. Duplicolor primer, gloss black, and clear coat on the chassis. Two coats each after sanding. I've heard Rustoleum works well too. Duplicolor Black ceramic caliper paint on the brake calipers. Warning here is don't get any brake fluid on the paint as it will take it right off. I was going to use engine enamel on the chassis, but I didn't like it's texture so I stuck with regular paint. It does chip and scuff, but for the price you can't beat it! All in the prep work.

Thanks. Considering a paint job on my xr100 while the engine is out.

If you plan to do any spirited riding on the bike I highly advise you get this. Its not as padded as the stocker, but it holds you up front (where you want to be) a lot better than the stocker. Put the stocker back on for iron- rides.
