Man Crashes, Dies While Learning To Ride Motorcycle

POSTED: Tuesday, September 6, 2011

EmailPrintHOUSTON -- A motorcyclist died Monday when he crashed while learning to ride his new Harley Davidson, police said.

Investigators said Juan Carlos Villalobos, 40, was riding his new motorcycle in the parking lot of the Dilston House Apartments in the 7900 block of Westheimer Road at 3:15 p.m. when he lost control and hit a parked Buick Park Avenue.

Villalobos then hit a brick wall next to a gate and suffered head trauma, Houston police said.

Villalobos died at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

RIP rider to be. If only there was a cover for his head to avoid that head trauma...

, RIP. My friend was learning how to ride and forgot to let go of the clutch and popped a curve. Launched into the air and landed with a roll head first. Luckily he was wearing a helmet. That very likely saved him.

The first bike we tend to put newcomers to our group and to riding on is a crf50. Even then I go get them a helmet to put on.

Im using a 125cc to let beginners learn how to clutch and break.
In the grass, in a field, still scares me bad too!

I think the minis are a fantastic first time learning tool. It helps a new rider understand how fast even a tiny little bike can get you in trouble.

CRF50s, XR100s...those just aren't cool enough for new riders to learn skills on.

RIP, hope your 40 yrs were as good as mine.

You should read the comments on one of the local news channel websited. The biggest idiot mentions that his 30 minute rider training class didn't cover how to lay your bike down and that only comes with lots of experience and he has had to do it twice.

Many of the other commenters are nearly as dim.
