did you watch the disarmed video, they beat up an old lady to force her to leave an unflooded home in which she had food and water. I dont neccesarily blame the troops, it was the order of ray nagin and the crooked police chief.

You're opening a can of worms with that statement as it could be applied elsewhere (motorcycles). If one has the means (and I'm not just talking about money) to own one, then more power to him.

I wish I had pictures of when I worked the astrodome during katrina. Us along with DPS had to search the busses after they let the passengers off. We found all kinds of stuff, guns, knives, looted items still with tags on, drugs, and alcohol. Can you imagine what would have happened if we let all that stuff into the dome along with all of 9th ward? Funny, not one single person came back to claim their "items". Well one guy had a zip loc bag full of vicoden and said it was for his cold, he asked for that back.

Like i said I don't believe in machine guns on the streets but tha'ts just me. Side arms I agree with even though i don't like guns at all I can understand needing them. my wife won't let one in the house and I can't blame her. I guess the 'ole bat or katana sowrd will have to do.

i just live by the old saying " never carry a knife to a gun-fight " and i would much rather be armed better than a person that may harm myself or my family.

I don't think they belong on the streets, either, but I don't have any problems with responsible peeps owning them. To own one not only takes a fair amount of fundage, but an extensive metaphorical exam.

Let's remember the phrase "guns don't kill people; people kill people". There's no sense in demonizing an inanimate object.

Not to mention the Chief law enforcement officer for whatever jurisdiction you live in has to sign off on you owning it. Plus you have to pay $200 for the tax stamp. And that cheapest SMG's now are gonna be your mac-10's and such and those are in the $3000+ range.

+1, my grandfather collected all kinds of guns, and they were passed down to myself and my father.
Dont have any full-auto weapons, but i do want an old thompson ( cabellas had one for a grand ) and id love to get an old WW2 grease gun.

i just enjoy collecting, and every now and then going to the range.

Think about the reason that the 2nd Amendment grants us the right to have guns. It's not just for personal protection, but also so the people have the ability to rise up and overthrow the government if it becomes a tyranny. How you gonna do that with a couple glocks?

It's gonna cost you around $10,000 to even get a full auto AK or M16 and it's going to be very well documented, so I don't think you have to worry about many of these falling into the hands of criminals.
