I agree. The new R1 is more comfortable to me, it sits slightly lower and I can ride considerably longer than on my R6. I agree for street the low end power really makes a huge difference over the R6. To me the R6 belongs on the track.

The older 636 Kawis are about the same as the R6..

Just have to decide if you want a racebike that isn't very comfy on the street, or something a little less aggresive.

I went to Tejas Motorsports to testride Yamahas earlier this year and the 1st on the list was the R6. As soon as I sat on it, I didn't feel right - tippy toeing like crazy, the bars were way too narrow/aggresive, etc. I didn't feel comfortable at low/no speed manuevering but I am sure that would all wash away once it got rolling. I had to abandon the test ride because I didn't want to crash.

I've sat on new 600rrs, ZX6rs and GSX600s and imo the most comfortable is the ZX6r. For the track (or even street), I'd rather buy a less aggressive bike that can be made more aggressive than a bike already too aggressive out of the box.

i rode the r1 there with its crossplane motor.
at lower rpms it felt like a traditional i4 with a miss

The r6 was a big adjustment but once you get used to it its awesome! I loved how aggressive it was in those turns!

It's too aggressive for none aggressive riders..

Think I may have to get another one.. just rode a Kawi the other day and did't like how it handles in the turn.. but then its older..

I wonder what the 2012 will look like.

Ivan I think its just preference man.. you know yourself, and what you want. You can get used to anything no mater what you buy with time. Probly the only reason I like the R6 is I always have and always will.. I learned how to ride on an r6 so when I ride other bikes I notice a huge diff in the other direction from your f4i.

I think you should get a more comphy bike cause you ride way more street.... get the Kawi and you'll have that track bike too.. Second best IMO..

BTW the reason you found yourself correcting in the turns is because the R6 has that much give when it comes to cornering.. you can recover much better in a turn on an R6 especially if you upgrade the brakes and slow down before you enter them...
