Rode an R6 Wednesday and.....

.....It scared the out of me! :eek

I rode Renzo's 2010 R6 and I don't know is it was the body position or the way the bars are set up. I just could not get comfortable on it, I felt like I was way over the front (like overpowering it). I tried sitting back further, I tried relaxing my arms more, but nothing would do. Then I thought, "Ok, maybe in the turn since I will be hanging off it a little that might help"... I was going fast (i-10) but I felt no lean and I was correcting in a turn I know very well. It could be that I'm not used to the power of the newer 600s or just that the Yamaha is not for me... I did ride an 02 before I hoped on that... but The difference in seating and power were enough to make me reconsider even thinking about getting the R6 or even keeping it as an option. It just didn't seem to fit me and it scared me a little...I've sat on other newer bikes and did not feel as uncomfortable as I did on the R6. I dunno if it's that Renzo adjusted the pegs a little higher too, but it just felt weird...

Rode this..
R6 white 3

Here is what I used to ride..
0365911 lg

So, this got me thinking, is there a particular bike that you wouldn't ride because it just doesn't feel right to you or is just weird.

I know we all have our "brand" preference, but I actually like the R6, it's a sexy bike, but after riding it, it's just not the bike for me.

At least now I have a valid reason why the R6 would not be my first choice in bikes.

How about you?

Certainly not the bike for everyone. I love all my Yamahas.

I miss my R6, such a fun little bike.

Your bike is not made for the same thing. It is more for comfort and touring. Sport/touring. I never liked the way my F4I had low foot pegs, seat, and high handle bars.
I like like the attack position of the R6, I like to sit on the bike and not in it.

I rode my buddies R6 and had the same issue, I think his was an 08. I then rode a GSXR600 for comparison and it felt much easier to ride, I already had my ZX10 at that point so not sure what it was exactly that was throwing me off.

Same here, I've even sat on a zx10 2011 and it didn't feel that "aggressive"

Youre just not use to tge riding position. Give it some time and you'll feel comfortable.

Ivan, the only reason why I love my R6 is because of the things you didn't like.. agressive and power!!!!

I love my R6 and I have riding everything out there.. cbr...Gsxr... kawasaki.... busa... Zx14... all bikes give you something special.

It is what YOU like that makes you pick what bike you like best.
To me.. I would think on having a Zx10 or R1.. Or the little brothers (600s)

Honda and Gsxxers dont have a very agressive riding possition IMO

Yup, from day one (test ride) ifeltgreat on the cbr...

All the other bikes too...just the r6...that's why I was wondering ifitwas just me, or other ppl...

If so, what bikes....I guess I'm not as aggressive as I thought I was...

I was honestly uncomfortable on my 08 10r to the point I didn't like it, loved all my r6's though.

I wouldn't be comfortable at first on an r6 either. As someone else said, on a gsx-r you kinda just sit in the bike on the street and it's really easy to ride. An r6 is aggressive and to me has a higher learning curve for an absolute noob. To me, I found the daytona equally aggressive but it felt better to me on corners. in all, I would prefer the bike that gives me the option to ride in an aggressive position or not over the one that almost forces me to. I love my bike for that reason.

I don't group r6 and comfort together. Aggressive BP, but lots o fun. U can ride mine and see if it feels different.

Takes time to get used to anything new

I remember back when I had my Gsxr I thought the riding position was so aggressive until I sat on your r6. I happened to sit on another 06 gsxr the other day while I was out on a ride, and it felt so relaxed and upright compared to the R1
