Is this suit suitable

I did my first track day at MSRH in June and I'm hooked. There is an event there on 9/10 and I would like to go but Its time to get my own suit. I used rentals last time and they of course didnt fit.

I would like to know if its worth buying some used gear for a 1pc and boots. I am 6' 160lbs and kinda lenky so I dont know what size I need and dont want to spend 1K for my first pair. Any Ideas on what i should go for in the 500-1000 range for the suit/boot combo. Also if anyone has this for sale let me know

a-stars smx-5 boots are really good boots. Now they are only $219. That will leave you with plenty of slack in your budget. I dont blame you about the rentals. Its very distracting when you are wearng a suit that doesnt fit right. Mine looked like evil kinievel's suit!!! hahahahaha good luck!!!

If you don't find something, I have a spare 2pc suit I could loan you.

My brother sold his bike a few months ago. PM me your number and I can have him contact you if he is willing to sell it. It's pretty much brand new. I think he did 2 trackdays it and then had a baby and quit riding. It should fit you perfect.

I have a different opinion about the a-stars smx-5. While they are a great touring, street boot, I dont believe they offer the slightest protection for the track! The reason I say this is they have absolutely NO protection to prevent lateral movement of your ancle. If you grab the boot from the sole and then with the other hand hold it from the upper part of the calf and you flex it lateraly youŽll realize is toooo flexible and offers no protection to the joint!

although i have not had any boots of my own to compare i would say those boots wouldnt be the best when you need them in an impact. the next set SMXplus have reinforced calf, shin protection for only an few extra dollars

thanks for the input though!!
