Nah my old carb worked fine. Exhaust is pretty much leak free.

I removed the pilot air jet underneath the bell intake housing like thumper talk said but I just read that was for the MX carb only. I'm to tired to work on it tonite so I'll try again tomorrow. I just wanted to bounce some ideas with someone who knew thier way around this mod/set up

Fixed it. Seems that the Pilot air jet has to be installe unlike the MX version. Did a quick spin around the block and man it's too loud to be gettin on it. It idles, runs smooth and tomorrow I'll see if it is the "greatest" power mod like everyone on TT says it is...

I loved the mod just for the "chirping"

Chirping? R u refering to the small rumble when u get off the gas?

Runs good but I need to do the Eddie mod to the AP. I also need the get a shorter choke too. Took it for a spin earlier and i almost looped it

Just do the o-ring thing.

My FCR seem to chirp when i got hard on the gas, perhaps it was the combo with the exhaust.

it totally changed my DRZ...i actually ride it less because it got so much louder sounding in the exhaust department. I hate trying to sneak out of my neighborhood. I've almost gone back to the stock cinder block exhaust can. I still have a few more jetting issues to clear up in the mid to higher throttle circuits.

i think my favorite and most noticeable was the 3x3...the FCR is a very close 2nd.

Try and make it to the next meet. I'd like to compare it to a drz with out the FCR.

It pulls the front end up easier but it feels like it actually drops power mid range. It is significantly louder too!! I think the power loss is with the accelerator pump and the CE portion I removed from it. It runs and idles but still needs some fine tuning.

i have a lean spot in mine (mid throttle range). On the freeway at a good cruising RPM and speed, it leans out. Once I open it up and get only the main jet circuit, I'm good.

I forget where my needle clip is and what taper needle I am using, but I'm sure that is where my issue lies. I'll look around for an FCR carb jetting circuit diagram that shows the effect of changes in the circuit vs. throttle.

EDIT:
Here it is
FCR CAL CHART vi

I don't think I have a lean spot but it feels like I get a nice jolt of power then suddenly drops off. I can pull the front wheel up easier than before but it won't hold like it use to with the smaller carb. And it's not a real smooth power band it seems....thats y my initial thoughts are with the AP.

I'm using the EMN needle clip on 3rd position.

same here...EMN and 3rd clip.

I know mine is a lean spot in my jetting because of my air:fuel ratio gauge...right at about 65-70 mph in stock gearing.

one day I'll find the time to correct it.

FCR (mx)

I haven't done the o-ring mod...but I figured I could just fix my issues with proper jetting techniques. I didn't need the o-ring mod on my 426 with an identical carb

ya, you caught me as I was editing...

I have quite a bit of experience with this carb...most of my bikes use it or a similar rendition/different size of an FCR. When we are talking about adding the FCR39 to a DRZ, most everyone uses the FCR MX...even the kits that sell.

Ahh Ok. I went the cheaper route and built a kit from scratch. I got a FCR slant from an E model for a 200 and bought the kit and new jets for 75ish. So still half the price of the MX kit but I guess that's y I'm having issues.

ah! now that i re-read your original post, it looks like you have the slant...

no experience with that one and how it gets added on. I did the cheap route as well with a yz carb ($50 on ebay) and pieced everything from sudco.

man, i need to ride my DRZ...it probably now has a bad battery and a 1/4" of dust.
