How to time your 0-60 run accurately!

Hey guys, a while back I wanted to see what my 0-60 time is, so I slapped a camcorder on my tank and went to the i-10 feeder where the limit is 50 (cause I was on speeding probation from a high speed ticket) and punched it. So here is how I calculated it Mythbusters style!

open the clip in any video editor software, it should say exactly how many frames per second your video is.

Cut the video from the frame you start moving to the frame the speedo shows 60

Divide 1 by whatever the fps is, usually around 30 (or 60 if you have gopro), and you'll get the time for 1 frame of video (don't round this number).

Select the 0-60 clip and it'll say how many frames are in it, so just multiply that by the per-frame time in the step above and Voila!

You can also do it using iPhone gps apps, but it won't be nearly as accurate.

If you guys know a simpler way, let me know!

stop watch and a friend. Have said friend be at the starting line to start the clock, stop it when he see's red on your tails. or do it legally at the track.

why wouldn't 0-60 times be important ? Not on the "corner" bike but the red light hopper bike- yes -

On my race bike i cut 1.16 60 ft times and run 130 to 135 in 5.20 sec. in the 1/8 mile

Does anyone know the formula for 0-60 times with a dragstrip time slip data

I have a 07 CBR 600 RR . I was just really curious about the acceleration, it's pretty sweet knowing that my bike that I got with part time college job money accelerates faster than all Lamborghinis and Ferraris that unlimited money can buy!

0-60 timing is cool but I like getting the bike low in the turns too - I couldn't find a lot of them in Houston though other that Memorial Dr near the beltway.

Do you guys know any good curvy roads in Houston without tar snakes?

oh wow. purpose built wheelie bar included?

even a big scooter can accelerate faster than most cars. However cars rape bikes in turns :(

yes sir purpose built. every pass i have to air up the swingarm, fuel up the top tube of the frame, charge the battery ect.
Its the highest rush i have found yet.
I've done stunting, road racing, dirt track-cars, my body is a little beat up, so i figure drag racing is less risky know and i get my fix

i used to think like that a lot in high school and college.... wait, for 8,000 you can bet a motorcycle that will beat a $150,000 ferrarri ??? plus insurance is a fraction of the cost. wowowow

you just sacrifice 100x more risk for safety being on a bike. Life is filled with choices
