Let's not get carried away now. Bayliss spent what, 3 years in MotoGP and didn't smoke anybody. It's a shame really. Wish'd he would have stayed in GP instead of cherry pickin' in WSBK.

Well, like Bayliss said, this was a fairy(sp) year for him. So it is for Nicky. Since I am not a big faunof Nicky.

Congrats Nicky, good job.

Bayliss kicked this year not like nicky. We won 10 or 11, so mmm i think he did better than Nicky don't you think? yes it is two different categories but he did a better job than Nicky and still kicked some in Valencia. GO BAYLISSS

pfftt, lol...NO. hahah. i wouldnt say that!

Nicky Hayden = 252 points.
Troy Bayliss = 25 points.

but props to troy for an amazing race, and a great finish! afaik he just participated in this one race right? and he placed 19th out of 22 in the standings for THE SEASON, that says alot. so apparantly theres a few guys who could use to get bumped and make room for him.

more power to him and his fans if we see him on the grid next year.

You miss the point though. Troy doesn't WANT to be in MotoGP anymore. He spent 3 years there and had his handed to him. He was having conflicts within the Ducati team about the direction of the development of the bike and left to join Honda and did even worse. So he was THRILLED to death to go back to WSBK and kicking . Dude is good, just never came to terms with the MotoGP bikes.

Chris, Bayliss is the WSBk champion, like Arturo said, he was just there hanging out. Seriously, Sete the second Ducati rider was injured again, so since Bayliss rides for Ducati in WSBK, Ducati in MotoGP invited him just for the race.
You can't compare points

Nicky 252
Rossi 247

WSBK
Bayliss 431
James Toseland 336

Bayliss had a WAY better year in a different category.

exactly.

does that mean if someone scores 997 points in CMRA, and the next guy scores 300, does that make them better than bayliss? nope.

no one is going to convince me that anyone has had a better year in motorcycle racing, than nicky hayden, the 2006 world motogp champion.

when i saw vale congratulate Nicky while still on the bike, it looked genuine, so that speaks volumes of him. also, Pedrosa looked happy as well, cause he knew all was forgiven, so he wasn't getting his kicked by nicky and his brothers.lol

Man, I can't find my post where I said if Nicky wins, the Rossi backers have to put the 'go nicky' sign in their car window for a week. Can't remember who/if anybody accepted that challenge, but if so, we need pics! :icon_bigg

LOL, I am not trying to convince you. It is a fact that Bayliss had a better year racing, he even beat nicky where as nicky didn't beat Bayliss . Yes, Nicky is the GP Champion which is the top in motorcycle racing, but he didn't have the best year, he barely won the championship, he didn't have that many wins, so in motorcycle racing nicky didn't have the best year, maybe for him but not for motorcycle racing.

Again, congrats Nicky, i just like bayliss better, and he had a better year in racing.

To be honest i don't understand that statement, however i am happy for you, your rider in this case nicky won the championship.

I never compared Nicky with Bayliss, i was just very happy for Bayliss to come back and kick some MotoGP , that is all.

Nicky's been tops on my list since the days of hypercycle (anyone remember)
I know alot of people will disagree, but we all know consistency wins championships. The thread that Racer X posted made some very valid points, I believe an appropriate statement would be that...well...racing happens and so it did. I'm not hear to beat a dead horse just stating my opinion, for the year 2006 Nicky Hayden is the world champion. Credit should be given were credit is due.

Valentino Rossi.....regardless of who you root for you have to give him credit, one for coming so close to winning this year after a rough start to the season, two for his like abilities to ride a motorcycle and three for being Valentino......for this I respect him. How many people have gained interest in watching motogp because of him?

Bayliss was on fire...and of course I'm a little partial to everything Italian so it was good to see ducati 1 and 2. I would like to see him on the grid for
next year.....will it happen? who knows, like ArturoC stated he was there as a fill in with no pressure to win...just ride!

Congrats to Nicky :notworthy
