It would seem that Rossi has had problems of his own throughout the year (including @ Valencia), but we definately shouldn't make excuses. The better man wins on any given day, this goes for every competitive endeavour known to man...

Can't wait for next year...this off time is gonna suck

"Hi everyone, my name's Adam and I'm a club-racer, a Hayden fan, and also a Rossi fan. I do not know everything nor will I act like I do but I will try and call things as I see them."

"Hi Adam."

Great, now that the formalities are out of the way, allow me to extrapolate on my only post after watching the race. I will not argue with any of you simply because I've gotten to the point where it is hilarious to read some of the posts. And I don't mean to be an or anything, on the contrary, I realize there are quite a few people here who have been in the sport longer than I have and also have much more experience, but I digress...

1) Throw the rest of the season out of the window already. If this, if that, yada yada yada. If wishes were dollar bills I'd be a millionaire.

Did Hayden get lucky? Yes.
Was Hayden consistent all year long? Yes.
Did Rossi have unfortunate DNF's at inopportune moments? Yes.
Was Rossi spotted 59-points before he started Valencia? Yes.
Did it Rossi crash while trying to race in Valencia? Yes.

It doesn't matter about clutches, about DNF's, or any of that. To finish first, first you must finish. I repeat, to finish first, first you must finish. I don't care if you lap someone every other lap, if you blow up/crash/delaminate a tire, and the slower rider finishes, guess what: you lost. There will not be any asterisks or footnotes placed beside your name saying you were getting your handed to you, just the simple fact you won.

2) About Hayden not being able to pass Bayliss. Troy came out of nowhere and rode an amazing flag-to-flag win and I will not be one to take away from that. He was incredibly fast and Capirossi said in an interview that he would have had a very hard time passing him.

Now, everyone go back and watch the race (those of you that can) and watch the lap when Rossi crashes. Anyone else see that when Hayden gets the board he is in the draft, about to try and pass Bayliss? Would he have done it? I don't ****ing know, I'm not Miss Cleo, but if you honestly think that Hayden was not catching him go look at the gap times from RSV's post earlier.

There is not a single person on this board that will be able to say, with 100% certainty, whether or not Hayden could have won the race. Was he riding at 75%, biding his time, while everyone else was ball's out? Or perhaps the other way around, with him riding as hard as he could while everyone else was conserving tires? Listen, if you can sense/predict what Nicky could have done, come to Tennessee, pick me some winning lottery numbers, and I'll give you 10% of what we win.

3) "Oh, oh, Hayden's a ***** because he didn't challenge for the win. He doesn't deserve to be champion." - paraphrased, in my language, from everything I've read.

****in' please.

Let's put this in terms that EVERYONE can understand, how about that. You have the chance to win $300 Million and all you have to do is beat Jim Bob Crawford in a 5-mile footrace. At mile 2 Jim Bob trips on a shoelace/beer bottle/dead rabbit, etc. and you have a 30 second lead. You are 1 second away from first place but you're having to run pretty hard. Do you: A) Say **** it, I'm here to win and run the risk of tiring out before you get to the finish line and letting Jim Bob beat you or B) Go HOT DIGGITY !, run a brisk pace but one that is easily manageable for you, and think of what you're going to buy first with all that money.

Here's everything summed up: Rossi had problems, Hayden had problems. It came down to one race, 30 laps, and if Hayden won all Rossi had to do was finish 3rd. Rossi crashed trying to get past everyone to catch back up to Hayden. All Nicky had to do was finish the race and he would realize the biggest dream of his life.

There is always someone faster than you, better looking than you, has a bigger / than you. That's life. Fair? Not one bit. But Nicky had to be a fast, consistent rider for 16 races on 4 continents to be in position to win it all in race 17. Was there anyone else there to win? No, just Hayden and Rossi. Others crashed, others broke, sadly it's unfair, but it happens every year.

There is not a single person on Earth that can say Nicky Hayden does not deserve to be MotoGP World Champion. There is also no one else on Earth that can say Valentino Rossi is not the fastest motorcycle rider on the planet and a champion in victory and defeat. So for those of you who think this season doesn't count, I ask you this: Could you do what these two men have done?

C'mon now. I was pulling for Nicky as well, but you know well Rossi is still a gawd.

Ease up, and be more like your boy and show some class in victory as well as defeat.
