I am currently using Teknic Speedstar gloves. I have had problems in the past with the stitching on Held gloves coming undone.

+1 for the Held gloves. I've been down in the Akiras on a top-of-second-gear highside, landing hands first. Nothing broke, gloves held up incredibly well. I'm on my second pair of Akira's after ditching the crashed ones (they could still be used though). In fact, whenever my gf rides on teh back of my bike, she gets my new gloves and I wear the wrecked ones. Had the second set for the last 5k miles and nothing has fallen apart, still look great.
