Hate to say it, but the last few "public" rides I've been on have been less than stellar.

It is difficult to have a bunch of people you don't know go on a ride that it is anything more than a relaxed pace.. and even then you can have people in the ditch.

Doesn't sound like this was a "Gnome" ride anyhow..

Get well quick to those that took the dirt samples...

I know what you mean. The last 2 group rides I attended ended up with a total of SIX riders in the grass.

Hopefully Chris will post up the video so that we can all learn something from his accident

People alse wreck and go down while riding by themselves and on freeway or city streets...

A few wrecks I heard of this last weekend on the road, also people went down at the track..

Does this mean you now are just gonna decide not to ride now, period?

It seems there isn't a wreck free zone.

Odds go up when you get a group together.. just a fact of life.

I imagine if you go back and look at all the PUBLIC group rides done this year, you'll find very few that didn't have someone in the ditch.

True, but another fact of life that " happens"...

Let's put another noob to curvy roads ride together bro (once I get a bike of course)...

I also want to do the "twist of the wrist II" viewing meet.

No matter how many times people are told to ride their own ride, some won't. I didn't on my first forest ride because I imagined my were larger than my riding skills. At least I ate it in a slow corner on the brakes.

this happens because of people trying to keep pace with the lead_ in which case the most expierenced riders should ask the group if there are newbies for their riding skills,
and act accordingly, "i believe we are a community" and as i've seen in this forum, we all should take care of each other as much as possible,
if i go on a group ride, i'd like to ride with safe people, even if they can do wheelies all the way to 170mph, I don't wanna get home worried about the guy that went down
or the guy that got pulled over and got a ticket, or went to jail..
