I've stayed for every storm. Once everyone had left i pulled out the bike for a little cruise around to see what was going on, like if cops were around and theives were having a feild day but all was good. I rode up the beltway and i was the only the person out. In shorts, sandals, wife beater, sunglasses, I, probaly not smart but i toped my bike out in high gear. But i checked the road and doubled back for the high speed run and was on a strait. It was fun. Like i was the only person left on earth riding my bike around.

During the last evacuation that's exactly how I felt. Like the last person on earth. I wasn't riding at the time but I was longboarding with some buddies downtown. The streets were empty and the winds pushed us through the streets. Great feeling. It was a very weird but cool feeling. If another evacuation comes our way we should all ride in groups and make some sort of statement. Maybe ride in a big MH formation so the news chopper can see us lol.

I have a diesel truck. In a pinch it'll run on kerosene, tranny fluid, motor oil, vegetable oil...all sorts of stuff. Both of my big bikes go in the bed, both dogs go in the back seat, and I can idle all day in a/c'ed comfortable without really caring.

I've stayed during every storm myself. Up here in New Caney it sits on high ground and the trees dissapate the winds. Really no reason to leave. It was nice to get the bike out and see what was going on in the world. I was able to go see the traffic jam on 59 and weave in and out of traffic while everyone looked at me like I was a criminal.

+1 the last time during ike we rode the beltway for free no traffic ,its beautiful having so much space but ugly at the same time it feels like the end of the world.

When I brought my bike , I had it maybe 1 week before the hurricane hit [ Rita ] I had it in public storage & no damge was done , Thank .
Having a family , we took my truck loaded with essentials headed to San Antonio , took us 18 hours of direct drving to get to my sister's house.
We had bar-b-que that evening , no rain , next day we headed back to Houston with a normal drive time back.

If I HAD to leave, I probably wouldn't take the bike. So many people driving like jackasses, it'd be too insane.

However- if it was just me, and I had Dad's KLR650, I'd load it down, and hit the road. Actually, less road, more grass/trails. I'd imagine you could follow some bayou and creek trails to get further north out of town, where the traffic begins to dissipate. I'd head towards the Tomball area most likely, and go from there.

Current plan has always been and will likely always be- shelter in place. Between all the vehicles, we have enough gas to get us by for a good amount of time- especially since there will be nowhere we NEED to go.

I'd stick it out. I would definitely want to ride with the streets as empty as they were for Rita.
