Helmet strap melted

So parked the bike outside in the sun at a friends house I have been staying at a few days while I work on his AC in his truck....

I go to put on my helmet and the strap is partially melted like someone took a lighter to it. Now this isnt the case as its on 5 acres of land and well Hello ive been here with my bike teh entire time...

So a few days later I check again and now the button that secures the excess slack while riding has melted almost completely off. So question is WTF??? I will post pics up tommorrow. But is it really so hot that this can happen. seriously.

Important question to solve this "mystery" Where did you leave your helmet?

Attached to the side of the bike where it can come in contact with the exhaust or another hot part of the bike?

Perhaps the visor is acting like a magnifying glass?
