Rider Down 45S @ Airport Blvd

Was on my way home for "lunch" when I came across a bunch of ppl slamming thier brakes!! Standing up on the pegs I see a guy get up from the floor in a helmet...I was like oh Made it over to the shoulder...jumped off ran to him and there was already some guys helping to pick up his bike. He was on a late model BMW F800GS, the hard cases to most of the damage as did his front fork guard....Rider was ok as I was talking to him and asking him a bunch a questions to see if he was ok.

Van in front of him had a tire blow out and they stomped on the brakes and swerved into his lane and he ended up hitting the back of the van then low siding at 70MPH His cortech mesh jacket held up great and his helmet has some scratches but he basically made it out scott free

Guy was off at the ol lady for ruining his day but he will live to ride another day....He had West Virginia plates but lived here in Houston. Didnt bother to ask if he was on here or any other boards because he was super .......

Lucky! Hopefully the van driver has insurance and the rider would be ever more lucky...

Curious, was he maybe 40-50ish in age with grey hair? Military-like cut? What color was the bike?

One of our workers rides a BMW with hard cases that looks a lot like the bike you described...not sure if he was riding today. Either way, glad to hear the rider is ok and even the bike sounds lightly damaged.

Dont remember the color of the bike but it was dark in color...He looks 30-35ish and short hair but not military style haircut

His plates were from West Virginia so Im sure there arent to many F800GS with those plates in houston

Ah yeah, I forgot the WV plates detail you posted earlier. I am not sure if he has TX plates or whatnot but I am guessing he does. Carry on

Glad he is ok. I am interested in details about how the mesh jacket held up since I wear a Cortech Mesh Jacket in the summer.

So glad he got away scott free, bike can be repaired anytime but not the rider! Accidents like this are the main reason why i choose not to commute on 2 wheels.

Not sure which model it was but it was black arms/shoulders wih grey chest area. He said he slid doing 70 mph. The back and elbow was a bit scraped but it actually still looked usable. None of the stitching looked like it came undone.

I would hope other ppl would stop if it were me so it's only right to do the same. His bike wasn't bad at all. Having those huge plastic side cases helped out alot.

I got to thinking about this and he is lucky to not be run over from some dumb person on the phone texting!!! I actually told him that right before i left and he kinda looked at my like ur right

I like the Cortech because it has thick leather on the shoulders, elbows and back where you are most likely to impact, but it still flows the air really well.
