The seems excessive in comparison to the actual claimed incident. Lets see pics of the car and the 'damage'.

I am sure any cop is going to put a very minor accident at the op of the investigation pile as compared to say a hit run with a fatality, or a robbery or something like that. Its not like they have anything else to do than investigate super minor hit and runs on private property. Small claims court is where you should be going.

$250 in damages? , it'll cost you a $100 just to file in small claims.

Might as well just chalk it up to "life." Waste of time in my opinion...

If you win your case, you're awarded court costs

I learned the hard way that if a accident occurs on private property then the police cant do very much.

"If" you win, but then you still have to waste time at court, plus you have to try and collect your winnings.

BF waste of time and money.

Last hit and run I was in was in League City. 50 something white male hit my Z4 at a stoplight in his Tacoma. We were blocking traffic and when I got out of my car he said pull into the gas station which is through the intersection. I started to when the light went green and he pulled right and took off. I already had LCPD on the phone. I had a feeling he was going to run as his breath reeked of alcohol, I was able to turn right (thank goodness the Z4 is so small and nimble). He went through one neighborhood, flying through all over the road, he knew these very well to go 60-85mph through the 25-35mph zones. I told LCPD that I didn't feel comfortable chasing at these speeds. Dispatch said well you gave us his plate, make, model, and color of vehicle so just stop at a safe place and the officer enroute will file the report.
I did just such.
Police went to his house the NEXT DAY. He was no longer smelled like alcohol. He had NO INSURANCE. He got a ticket for FSGI, NOTHING ELSE.
He got away and I paid the ~700 in damages. Small claim court isn't worth the hassle.

Moral of the story. If you are going to hit and run, do it in League City because they don't give a about you, especially if you are not white (which is the feeling I get every single time something happens in League City and I need the police, it's only been 3 times though). .

Oh yeah OP your incident was on private property. The police would care even less about it.

You guys need to learn how to file reports.Let me post again briefly what happened in my scenario.Key note is to REMEMBER THEIR PLATES.

-my friend was driving my Lexus, had just got completely repainted of course
-young kid hits side including both doors, tells my friend sorry but hes gotta go!
-my friend gets plate & comes back home to tell me about it
-I get on houston imports site and post the plates
-I get the guys info FAST.Well more like the registered owners aka parents
-I drive about 10 mins to their house, block driveway cause the car was right there with MY white paint on it and I have his red paint all on my cars side
-Call cops and wait
-Cop shows up,I say who hit me,he ran,I followed him there
-Cop arrests guy on spot for not just for leaving but also no license, insurance, registration, inspection
-I have full coverage so insurance fixes it
-Guy also pays restitution and I get my deductible back basically.

So if you do anything when you get hit is remember the plates! And just hope they are up to date.

This is a good idea. Just do this. Set up a google voice number that routes to your cell phone. Its perfect, free, and he'll never know its you.
