The wonders of Ducati ownership

I just bought a brand new monster 696. Absolutely beautiful in white with a red frame. Just the right amount of bike for me coming off a 250. Makes all the right noises and its an absolute dream to ride.

Unfortunately the honeymoon has hit a snag. After a few starts and 40 miles on the clock the bike refuses to start! The dash lights up, the FI kicks in, and the starter makes clicking noises. FML.

I guess the dealer will be getting a call on warranty first thing on tuesday.

Could be bad voltage regulator. My 2008 1098 had mine replaced under warranty. Thought all later bikes had this issue resolved.

I don't know if I can trust the dash voltage reading, but it is in the normal range.

just cause you have the voltage does not mean you have the amps to crank it

My DRZ had a bad cell in the battery the day I bought it. Rode it home on Saturday and wouldn't turn on after that. Man was I !! It still showed 12+v but wouldn't crank the bike at all

Don't jinx me, it has already happened once with this bike!

As I was leaving the dealership the salesman asked if I wanted a battery tender. I declined because I ride regularly and the bike won't be sitting for more than a day at most.

edit: I checked the dealer's site, they are open on monday!

Pretty bike!
Sounds like a bad battery to me. Good luck, I'm sure they will take care of ya.

I really like that model. Great size and power for a beginner or a skilled rider. As you progress, you should really enjoy it. You don't need 150 HP to have fun on the street. Get that suspension set for your weight at a good shop.

Congratulations on the bike and good luck with the minor set back.
