No, it was worn on one side and they purposely flipped it around backwards to wear the other side. I'm not going to say who it was, but many considered it an acceptable practice as long as it wasn't raining.

Cdill says most people do not reach or surpass their limit or the limits of their bike.
I'm guessing he's including tires.

I can understand a tire NOT being meant to be mounted reversed, but my assumption is that just as much rubber with very similar traction properties still available regardless. Especially on such a moderately paced ride.

Todays group ride pace was very moderate to me (and I'm just an average rider) and she was about 6 bikes behind me, so I can only assume those riders weren't going any faster than I was.

How would a reversed installed tire cause this kind of accident?

I know everyone's got their opinion but if this turns into a hissy fit contest, we ain't gonna learn from others mistakes.

This is why I am taking it to the track. You can't safely reach those limits on the street very often. Roadside crosses remind me of that daily. After living and daily riding in sportbike (Houston) for 14 yrs... riding hill country these past two years has really told me to take it to the track. Pronto!

As for whoever reverses their tire... its just not what I would do. Tire makers didn't permanently imprint that arrow on there for nothing. Then again I'm riding with a 180 on a 6 inch rim. I guess one will do whatever their pocketbook allows them.

Only real issue is the tread pattern is designed to disperse water, and reversing it makes it not work correctly. Also, if run one way, then reversed, wear patterns can make it handle strange.

Exact same damage that was done to my bike after its little get-off. Luckily there's not damage to the important bits and sounds like the bike will be fine.

I'm glad to hear she's not hurt. Ride again!

I wouldn't do it either, I just said it's been done. Someone you used to work with has done it as a matter of fact.

Let me guess Clay? Are you really going to do as Clay does? I thought you were a bit brighter than that!

Nope, not Clay. Aren't you bright enough to read what you quote?

this is so true, I rented a UHAUL trailer my first track day, it was like under $40, surely these kids if they can afford their toys, can afford a $40 a day trailer? Your first day is your most inEXPENSIVE day, it was for me
