Lighting - Stage 1 - Helmet Light - Complete

I have several options when it comes to placement of the battery pack. I had it on the shoulder strap of my hydration pack last night and it was perfectly fine there. Late last night, I decided to try mounting the battery to the chin bar. I think I prefer it here. It doesn't add any noticeable and uncomfortable mass to the helmet. A pro to it's placement here is the lack of wires hanging down that might get snagged on branches.

My first impressions are that I want to buy 5 more sets of these. They are awesome! I hope to get the chance to shake this thing up in the woods this weekend or on my mountain bike in memorial. Today I am running it on "medium power" to see how long it will last.

Beam shot. This was hard to capture on my iphone's camera...but you get a good idea about how bright this sucker is. It is brighter than my previously considered bright LED flashlight (Fenix TK40) which cost quite a bit more.

It lasted 12.5 hours before the light shut off. I'll try the brightest setting tomorrow.

Nice...that would definitely last all night. Especially since I'm sure you'd atleast take 1 nap in the dark and we could charge the battery back up at that time.

It would be cool to see a time lapsed video of the race if you do it solo. Maybe do some editing and speed up the boring stuff and normal for the cool stuff.

i might toss the gopro on picture mode...but i do plan on wearing it if I'm riding in it. We'll see how much I get done this weekend. I'm still waiting on the stator, regulator/rectifier, and battery. Without those, there is no light.

Hotnanas lucky day---24 hr race postponed!

This just in from Otis.

Quote:
24 Hour Race Postponed

The promoters of the Texas Xtreme Tejas Motorsports 24 Hour Challenge have announced the postponement of the upcoming 24hr Challenge event.

Due to the extreme Texas weather conditions and fatalities across the state resulting from the heat and drought, Texas Xtreme Off Road Racing, in concert with the landowner and event sponsors and at the request of the numerous race teams, has decided to reschedule the event.
We understand and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to the many racers and spectators that have preregistered. But out of an abundance of caution and concern for racer safety, and to honor the landowner's wishes, we agree that postponing the event is the best and safest choice.

We currently are in the process of choosing a new date for the event and we will apply all preregistered entrants fees to the rescheduled date, once it is decided. No action on your part will be necessary. If you will be unable to attend the rescheduled event, a full refund will be provided. Stay safe, cool and tuned in for further details as they become available.

Thank you for your support and understanding!

I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but YES! Thank !

I have been scrambling trying to get stuff in and installed, and everything seems to be on backorder. This is some great news. I still am wanting to get in while the entry fee is $100 off. I should ask Otis if this "special" will run in September too.

Race Update: It is currently not official, but it appears the new date for the race will be in March.

1 of 3 of the potential headlights that I am considering:
Headlight 1

I am still waiting on my battery to arrive to wire it all up.

I'm going back to my black plastics. My kawi is tired of wearing yellow.
