it's looking like I won't have my bike ready in a month. the lighting is going to take longer than I imagined.

i ended up working myself in a big circle and got all of these grand ideas on making my motocross bike the ideal enduro bike, but adding a battery and converting from AC to DC is going to be more involved than I want to attempt to tackle in a month.

I still have 2 weeks, but I am having a hard time sourcing parts in my budget.

I think yesterday I was in a bad mood. Ordered a bunch of stuff to light up the night. I hope I can get it all in and on the bike quickly. I have about 3 weeks to sign up...so I have about 3 weeks to install and test.

Bike light + helmet light + radiator fan mods coming to a garage near me.

I'm needing to call the National Forest service to find out if I can do a test loop in the dark.

Let me know if you need any help with anything. I'd be interested to see how everything works out...I wouldn't be against putting lights on my KTM in the future. Shouldn't bee too hard since it already has electric start.

ya, that would be cake, I'm sure.

so far I have placed an order for a stator, regulator/rectifier, and a battery. Mounting the battery and regulator/rectifier and hiding all the wiring in between is going to be the hardest part.

I plan on running a 35W HID bulb in my DRZ400's stock head light housing, if I can get that to mount to the forks. That should really be enough light for the race, but I have also started looking at a Magicshine LED bicycle light that I plan to mount on my helmet.

If all that works well, I am also hoping to add a thermostat and radiator fan that will turn on at 195 degrees or by a switch. The only thing that will separate my motocross bike from a full fledged enduro would be the 18" rear wheel by the time the race comes.

I hope all this works well. I am still not 100% sure whether I would like to do the team thing or not, but I have some time to worry about that. If I do the team thing, I will probably need to pull the head and have a valve job, and a new piston/rings. If I run it on my own, I will choose the bike over the race, and tap out before too much damage can be done.

Helmet light ordered. I hope that the shipping from hong kong won't take too long.

I think this should be a great supplement for my HID headlight that I am waiting for parts to arrive to figure out how to install and wire up.

Need to get the trailer fixed by then so we will have a place to sleep while Cliff rides.

KNOW A reliable welder that is capable of fixing it on site (or close proximity)?

I'll let you hack it up if you think "we're" capable of doing it.

I can bring over the welder and grinder and let everyone have their go at it....I'd like a place to sleep while the race goes on and I need a break. I assume that would be legal.

I can bring the welder and stuff out. I'm sure we can get it all fixed up!

Not this weekend due to the Middleton race, but one weekend coming up for sure.

Definitely legal. Just a few less laps that you will ride. No worries though...I'm sure you won't be the only one napping at some point!

If it weren't legal, i was going to bring a hammock to string up next to the trail. LMAO.

I think this is going to be a riot. Maybe a stupid idea, but a riot nonetheless.

I've got the time (I'm not doing much these days with my knee and all, so weekends are pretty free for me) and I've got beer money.

They just opened this place on Fairbanks N Houston and they are bound to have everything we would need on hand I would think (angle iron, welding sticks, etc)...they are even open on Saturdays acccording to the flashing kiosk. Electricity is also available at my storage facility place.

I would think the only thing we may need is some scrap metal. But we won't know for sure until we take a look at it.

How's the knee? If you don't have anything else going on you are more than welcome to head up to Middleton with me and possibly Cliff this weekend.

Well, if you can't make it happen we can always just go to the regular race the following weekend. No lights needed.

I thought about that too. I can stay in the points race if I make that race.

After tomorrow night, I should have most of the lighting components in for the bike. I'm not sure where the helmet light is, but I assume it should be here soon. If I don't make this year's 24, I hope there will be another sometime. I also aim to do some night time riding in the very very near future anyway (I need to see if this is allowed in Sam Houston NF), so all of my money spent won't go completely to waste.

It will be my one of a kind KXF250-X.

You are in 3rd place for the Fall season. Good luck staying there though...I plan on knocking one of you guys off the podium by the end of the season!
