How many race in the CMRA?

Does anybody know roughly how many racers are active in the CMRA? Also are spots capped at 999? I want to go for my license sometime next year and this was just a thought that came to mind.

I wouldn't worry about the amount of people racing. Instead, I would take a close look at your bank account...

fill out the contingency forms, and podium. even then, you'll probably just break even.

dont let the money comments steer you away dude.
its just like trackdays, you can spend what you choose.
i mean you dont have to spend more than you have as some often hint at.
if you normally do 2 trackdays a month you're there.
cost is gonna be directly affected by racebike size multiplied by how competitive you wanna be.
first thing you prolly wanna do is look at your budget though.
there is many threads on what it costs to go race.
on a race weekend you can get your friday practice and your races for the cost of 2 trackdays and get the same ,if not more ,track time folowing some fast people.
i have NEVER heard anything about a "cap" on how many racers can be in the club.
as far as how many are there, thats gonna be tough to find out as some are members and may not even race this year.

Don't you have to be in advanced before you can take the class?

I'm gonna work my way up to the top riders in the intermediate group then go for my license sometime in the summer of next year. I've only done one track day so far so I still have some learning to do. I'm not afraid to get my in my throat so that'll give me an edge sorta lol. I also feel like im perfectly capable of competing in a race. Look out for me next year, in last place maybe but i'll be there

If you have done only one TD, maybe racing is not for you just yet. You need to take safety into account, both yours and others. As oppose to TDs, in racing passes are usually closer. If you get scared by a close pass and lose your concentration, you could crash and take down someone else with you.

That being said, do a few more TDs. Try the advance group of whatever org you ride with, make sure you can maintain your line and then do the race school. Another option would be to start with a ninja 250 for a year and then move up to an SV/inline 600.

The CMRA is a great organization with great people working in it. You will have fun when racing there, that is for sure.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

spots are not capped at 999. if there were 1,000 thousand racers, i'm sure they'd use a number belonging to someone else followed by a letter or something along those lines.

if you think trackdays are fun.... racing blows it right outta the water. and as others have said, race laps are definitely better than trackday laps as far as learning goes. you'll become a faster and better rider, faster. not only that, but the memories, moments, and people you'll meet along the way are worth the time and money you spend doing it. you don't feel the comraderie at a trackday like you do at a race weekend either.

www.cmraracing.com when you're ready to give it a shot or have any specific questions. call Nancy Selleck up, she's a very nice lady and will answer whatever question you have, if not, she'll find the answer for you!

hope to see you on the grid sometime!
