Man look at that fourth picture..That bike was the sexyiest bike in the whole parking lot. When i got there in the morning, there were like more than 20 bikes stashed into 4-5 car parking spaces, and this was in the middle but boy did it stand out!

Me and squeaky made them let us into the ER, he didnt have a scratch on him, I think he might be slightly concussed, he bit his tongue, thats where all the blood was coming from. He told the nurse he didnt care who was there "just fix me".

Just got home. Thanks to Josh for sticking around with me over at the hospital and making sure I made it back Ok.

The majority of the blood was probably from his tongue. He must have bit down on it pretty hard, but the nurse said it wouldn't need stitches. He sure didn't want to "open up and say ahh" to have his temp taken!

Before the pain meds, he was moaning and breathing pretty hard. You could see he waws hurting and a bit confused, but after the pain meds he settled down and almost seemed to fall asleep. Couldn't tell if he was snoring or still just having trouble breathing around the swollen tongue.

The bleeding from the ears was likey a ruptured/torn eardrum (or something like that, but was only talking to the nurse and not the doc). He was NOT pleased about the catheter... but it's a necessary evil with the kidney being brused.

Seeing a helmet cracked in half like that has me rethinking my next purchase, but even the most expensive helmet on the market may not have stood up to the metal fence he hit. His leather jacket is now a shredded rag, as are the rest of his clothes. About the only thing they didn't cut up was his belt.

He was wearing boots, but not MC-specific. They were over-ankle work boots and they seemed to come out of it just fine so a better pair wouldn't have made a difference.

His wife was pretty shaken up when she first saw him (quite understandable), but after some reassurance that there were no major injuries she settled down some. When Eric became more alert, his moaning and feeble attempts to remove the tubes in his nose and his, uh, member seemed to both stir up more emotion in her and reassure her that he was going to fight to a full recovery all at once.

I didn't like having to do all this.
I don't like being a part of a ride - much less a partial ride leader - when someone goes down. There are rules for a reason.

We'll talk about the rules later. For now, Eric is where our focus should be and I am confident he'll be back on two wheels in no time.

Ride safe out there guys n gals. Live to ride another day.

No. It wasn't necessary, and it wouldn't have helped. There was very little for us to do there other than wait for his wife and send updates. We were almost not allowed back to see him because we weren't family.

Once they get back to town, we can swing by to give him a 21-exhaust salute.

Actually, it's the second time in just a matter of weeks that I've spent time in an ER with a downed rider that I'd only met that day. The last one was a track crash up at TWS (Texas World Speedway).

For some reason the maternal/nurturing side of me comes to the surface when something like this happens. I don't know why I felt like his mom should get "the call" from a woman instead of a man. I don't know why I felt compelled to rub Eric's feet and ankles when he was moaning in pain.

...maybe I should just be a nurse :confused1

Don't get me wrong - it's a good idea. I thought about it, but realized all we'd be doing was crowing the waiting room. Others offered, but we thought we needed folks to stay with the bike so we could get a truck to come for it (although it ended up at the 'pound so that was a moot point).

He probably won't even know we were there anyway. Those pain meds are guuuuud! :laughing6

I've ridden with Josh before and I'm not surprised at all that he was there helping out........he's a stand-up guy without question.
