No Yamaha WSBK in 2012

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2011/Aug/110801b.htm

guess with no Rossi to promote the Brand, no Spies dominating WSBK and the cross plane big bang R1 selling poorly (in Europe) it was on the cards but shame imo, huge loss to the championship

ok, looks like motohouston is going to have to send a representative to Yamaha to apply for the new superstar position since they lost all the big names.

No big loss. As i've always said. 'Factory' teams have no place in a production-based race series.

"Yamaha will continue the availability of road racing kit parts, known as YEC Racing kit parts, for its R1 and R6 production models for private teams entering at all racing levels."

^^^^ This is all they (and all the other factory teams) need to do for a production bike based series!

Yamaha officially withdrew from WSS at the end of 2010. Guess who is leading the WSS championship? Chaz on the Yamaha!

Expect an editorial and endless posts about this on Superbike Planet They'll treat it as if it's the end of the world.

Curious to see where Laverty and Melandri will be next season. They both have a lot of potential.

if factory teams pull out, it might make racing more competitive....maybe?

So let's see -

No Kawasaki and, barely any Suzuki in MotoGP
No Ducati and no Yamaha, what will happen to Suzuki BTW?, in WSBK
No Honda in AMA

It is unfortunate but, I do believe we are seeing the decline in all racing series. I wonder how many years will they last if things continue to decline as they are now.

No Ducati, but a Ducati is winning WSBK. I'm not convinced its a terrible thing. It'll will just bring the classes more parity as being on a "factory" bike won't be a huge hardware advantage.
