I've been wanting to do something like this since I talked to an adventure rider in Colorado last year. He said something like, "You haven't seen anything till you get in the high elevations only accessable by trails."

Colorado is awesome. I ran across a guy from Germany and I was telling him how I wanted to go over there and do some riding. He assured me that Colorado was just as nice and in some cases nicer.

Ha. Guess you saw me post on TT about post-ride food. Nah. No Tex-Mex where we were riding. Found some decent Tex-mex in Ft. Collins a few days later while visiting my brother.

Thanks for posting pics. Always love seeing pics of home. I learned to ride in those hills.
I didnt get back to ride at all this summer, nor does it look like I will. Perhaps next year.

The best salsa I've tried in the US was at a Burrito place in Colfax Avenue in Aurora, Colorado.

Pretty nice pics, BTW. Thank you for sharing

It wasn't the day before when we went over, but I didn't take any pics on that day.

Here's some of the video I shot from the single-track we rode...

Uncompahgre Forest - Large Aspen trees, meadows full of wild flowers, roaming livestock...

East Fork Trail - nice water crossings & decent exposure in certain parts (exposure = if you go the wrong way off the singletrack, you will fall a looooong way down)

Awesome pics!!! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to do a ride like this one day, but I don't own a plated dirtbike....is it possible to trailer into the mountains and just ride all over without taking major passes or thoroughfares?

We were all legal. (me included)

I used the old trick I learned with my street trackbike. You can get liablity insurance and go down to the DMV and get a temp 30 day tag for $25 for any vehicle regardless of it's "street-worthiness.".

We all had headlights and working brake lights. However, you probably wouldn't be hassled if your brake light didn't work. Also it helps to avoid known trouble spots.

My brother's group had been hassled before by the sheriff in Telluride. Well, not really hassled, but he made sure they were all legal. We knew we had plans to go into Telluride, so we made sure we were all good to go.
