Look!
Take the "Goodwill" clutch... you'll get a free clutch... if it doesn't go out in another 500 miles then you know that it was defected!

you are so right!

if the bike has a problem at an early age.. and it happens again.. then again.. and the shop have done repairs to it to fix it but the problem keep coming back then that bike should be Lemon law and the Manufactor will replace the vehicle at no charge and will give you one just like it.

im kind of curious whats really going on here. i have had clutches go out, but you can still shift the bike, put it in and out of nuetral, run through the gears. if the clutch is gone, the bike just wont go anywhere, no power is transferred from the crank to the wheel... thats not adding up to me.

also, i beleive for the lemon law, it doesnt even have to be the same problem each time. you can bring it in for repair of X, then Y and then Z and i believe it would still be a lemon. be sure to get a printout of the parts done, work done etc...and keep them filed somewhere safe.

It's not just 3 times. It has to be in the shop for a certain number of days, too, but I don't remember the number (15 comes to mind, though). Ran into that issue with my truck. Three front main gaskets and 3 catalytic converters in less than 28k miles. Total days in shop: 11. At the time I was on a bowling league with a lawyer and he looked into it for me. He said there were several criteria that needed to be met before they'd declare a vehicle a lemon. That was over 10 years ago, though. Maybe it's changed.

+1

I have seen a bike wear out the clutch that fast before. Customer brought it back in before first service complaining about slipping ect. Walk over to do the test ride and found zero clutch freeplay and customer stated that he liked the lever with zero clutch freeplay. Basically he tightened it up so it would constantly slip slightly wearing out the clutch very fast. Freeplay is very important the adjuster is not there to adjust to your liking, it needs to be set and left alone unless it NEEDS to be adjusted, at which time it is to be set to spec. I am not saying this is what happened to yours but I do see it alot and sometimes catch it before the customer smokes their clutch. I have however never seen a clutch that is correctly used and set burnt up. Not a factory clutch anyway. Best of luck.

Then again..... It is a yamaha.... Lol Sorry couldent help myself.
