ohhh the ignorance

So I'm at one of my clients this morning. Bring friendly as usual. One of the guys starts talking about his Harley... I thought to my self "great". So everything is cool, I told him that I ride sportbikes. Which of course he made some smart comment about the younger generation.

He had mentioned his new half shell helm he had purchased. I then told him how I generally wear full gear. From boots, to jackets, to gloves, etc.
He said "why Don't you just stay home? Are you scared or something?"

So trying to defend my good decisions, I told him about my wreck earlier this spring, and how gear played a major role in me walking away.

After he changed the subject he started talking about how his neighbor bought a "piece of BMW." he explained he didn't under stand the purpose of it because it wasn't a cruiser, and it wasn't a sport bike.

I'm just astounded at his ignorance.

Thanks for letting me vent

Some are really ignorant.

Just as some sportbike riders.

That cruiser guy is probably the kind that gives the finger instead of a wave to sport riders.

I have learned to appreciate all makes and models. Often you will find that people that say the most know the least. He has obviously never seen the flesh removed down to the bone.

His neighbor must be a really ignorant for buying a motorcycle that isn't a sports-bike or a cruiser... How dare he do that, who do he think he is?

Angry

dumb comments he made.
It is guys like that who give Harleys & other cruisiers a bad name.
Nuts like him ,can't help the sale of cruisers , they just others off most of the time.
In motorcycling , you can ride whatever you want , it is the same wind when you are on the road regardless of the bike brand.

Was he older than you? If he was, he may know a lot more than you do.

This sounds a lot like the rider that I met at the car wash near my house. I asked if he wore gear, he said he does wear a helmet. I asked, what about Jacket, gloves etc?? He said "no jacket bro", Ive been riding for 12 years..... Me: oh rlly?

I didn't know that after 11 years, you can all of the sudden grow wings and can avoid accidents from happening.

He's living the SONS OF ANARCHY lifestyle! You should ask him whats the point of a quasi-American nameplate on a bike made out of Chinese parts.

Anytime a rider tells me "ive been riding x years I don't need gear"

I ask him "oh... Well what about the soccer mom in the mini van yelling at her kids and texting who swerves in your lane... Has she been looking out for riders for x years?"
