Heard wrong.

The COUNTY controls registration, and Harris County is firmly on record as making it very clear that the City of Houston can say whateverthefuck they want, but the county is not going to hold registration for unpaid red light "tickets".

I'm glad you post here. If I ever need to know what NOT to do I just read your posts.
IF i run a red light, it is out of pure necessity - meaning, I'd get squashed if i stopped.

However, the ticket from a camera is not a legal violation, but rather a shakedown, er i mean, civil matter.

And people are actually proud of it. Amazing... #2 is understandable though...
Here are some other reasons:

1) Being VERY closely tailgated by someone who is too close to even see your brake light, let alone actually stop.
2) Having to move through it to permit emergency vehicles through.
3) Unable to actually see the light due to the position of other traffic and the relative heights of vehicles. Yes - sometimes you cannot even see a red light if you're surrounded by large trucks.
4) Unable to see the light due to sunlight and position.

I'll admit the last two are pretty lame, but understandable - and certainly not a crime as far as I'm concerned.

The fines levied for red light tickets are a civil matter, not criminal, so no warrants will be issued for non-payment.
What is the necessity - because the light doesn't change?

Great - but still he's close enough that I'm not hitting the brakes. See how that works? And yes, it may still catch my plate.

I know people who have gotten a ticket for exactly that.
