As far as hotels, I guess we will be spread out throughout the City of Austin? Can we get a consensus and all stay at the same loc?
I need a motel where I can roll my bike into the room. If you find a different one from the one I picked, let me know.

I still don't mind staying at the ghetto place... lol. Just need a bed, and after an all day ride, I'm sure any will do.

As for going out in Austin, there are two things to consider.

1. We are going to be riding the whole day, so we may be pretty sore and tired.
2. Parking downtown sucks, and I don't imagine our bikes are going to be very safe with drunkies walking all around.

Bevo you still staying at the original spot, or have the reviews detoured you?

I still have a reservation at:

Crossland Economy Studios Austin - West
12621 Hymeadow Rd
Austin, TX 78729

and I will be at PP1 by 6am Saturday. If you look at Google maps street view the area around the motel looks nice

This place is about the same price ($50), has a little better reviews, and is closer to downtown. Doesn't look like you can ride the bike into the room though.

I'm just going to stay wherever the majority stays since it'll make everything easier. I'm not worried about someone stealing my jalopy, so parking inside the room isn't a great concern for me. Time to go clean them dirty saddle bags Chris gave me. Looks like they've been in an attic for 10 years.

Yea, there are no exterior doors to those rooms plus it's right on I-35. Easy access to thieves if that's a concern

I'm down for wherever everyone else goes too. Being closer to the group is more convenient for me than being closer to downtown.

I'm not too worried about my FZ6 being stolen. Thieves don't tend to steal these bikes like they do sportsbikes. I may be overestimating the intelligence of thieves though...

Yea, I didn't want to be the first one to bring that up, but my place of employment may not allow me to leave town this weekend if the Houston area is threatened by "Don"

I bought a Hydrapak 70oz today at Cyclegear SW for....

$16!

For those who ARE going on 7/30-7/31...(Hill Country)

I walked in expecting to spend $40-80 on a complete unit but found a deal that will keep me grinning for days I tried it on with 70oz of water, my back protector and under my jacket and it is less noticeable than I thought it would be. My jacket does feel quite a bit tighter (harder to zip up) and I look like a hunchback. Drinking from it with my helmet was pretty easy...I left the mouthpeice hanging out of the collar of my jacket and used my hand to grab it and put it under my helmet chin to drink. Overall pretty pleased ...curious to see how this will physically effect me. Normally when riding for a full day in street/track gear in this kind of heat, I sweat like crazy and lose a lot of minerals in my sweat, which results in terrible leg/ab cramps.

With regards to the weather, I am down even if the threat of rain is there (I like riding in heavy rain ). I didn't book a hotel room yet though just in case it gets bad.
