GSXR k7 1000, fork leaking, an idle's up an down..

Hello, i'm about to get an GSXR 1000, an one fork is leaking, Anyone know where a good place is to have this problem fixed? I live in New Caney,, 20-30 miles north of H-Town........ Also, the idle is kinda up an down some, but it has an performance cam, an some other performance stuff installed in it.. the bike has 7,500 miles on it.. it runs good, an has more then needed power. would the cam have something to do with the idle?

Thanks..

My advice is to walk away.
A leaking fork has to be fixed. Period.
Unsteady idle could be a hundred things.
Cam?
What cam? Where did this so called "Performance Cam" come from? It's not like you call up Crower or Lunati and just get a "performance cam" for a bike.
Somebody is very likely bullshitting you.
Walk away, there are a million gixxers out there, go find another one.

The other option is to take the bike to Motorcycles Unlimited and have them ck it out BEFORE you give any money.

mmk thanks man,, im trading, my 07 FZ6, with 19k miles, an a 1990 all stock jeep for it... so i figure 2500 for the Fz6, an about 1500 for the jeep.... the bike runs good, I drove it a few miles, but the idle is maybe 900 rpm to 1100 rpm... i took it up to 124mph an it ran strong... but i dont want a lemon..

Personally, I would walk away. 7500 miles with fork oil leaks paints a bad picture. I can only think of lots of hard brake, or wheelie drops. 7500 miles is just too young to change a gixxer 1000 fork seal.

Hey, Motorcycles Unlimited is offering free inspection, you might as well do it.

I agree. If its making 240+ hp all motor it sure wouldnt be streetable, it would have to be a 4x6 with good fuel to make that kind of power

Actually, i think im wrong, a 4x6 might not even make that much power.

I have owned way too many '07/'08 GSXR1000s. The above comments are correct. Even with a 4x6 you will not make 240+mph or 240+ WHP.

With all of that out of the way, there are bikes that have not been seriously abused that will have fork leaks under 5K miles. Many times this is caused by grime getting into the seal surface, as these bikes are now 4-5 years old.

HOWEVER, the bike in question has had the complete fairing set replaced (including the wheels) with a set from an '08 GSXR1000, which means either someone was very about wanting a different color or the fairings had to be changed due to damage. The shown color combo was not available on the '07, only blue with white (very minimal white) and black wheels.

You may want to look for other bikes....
