That's one of my complaints about the smx-2. I feel like I'm riding in clown shoes sometimes. Not to mention the insoles are hard as a rock. Ill probably give the converse ones a shot anyway, if I choose poorly I'll let you know. I have no problem being humbled.

For me, I'm big on ankle armor in a riding boot. I want some padding and something hard between my ankles and the pavement. I love the old A* GP Tech boots that they don't make anymore. I'm still wearing my last pair of them (had 3), but they're getting rough looking. They were the old style ones with the carbon fiber shin area. Badass boots and they crashed great. I don't really like the new A* stuff as much.

I've got a pair of Oxtar TCS boots that are pretty solid too. Great armor, titanium sliders and comfortable. If I had to pick a fave out of current offerings though, I'm with witchdoctor on the Sidis.
