Its pretty easy to run the VIN and find out if they are stolen. Not all title issues mean they are stolen.

it's usually never worth the trouble when it comes to buying a streetbike with no title in hand.

Not always true. I sold my 07 GSXR600 to a MH member and it still had a lein on it. I got it and next day mailed it to him as soon as it came in. I think it was pretty smooth. Only issue was with the lein holder for about a week. It all worked out good though.

The thing is, that if you DO lose the title but really want to have the cash by selling your bike, you can go to the DPS and for a whopping $8 they will give you a brown copy which is a legal valid title right there on the spot, and mail you a blue one. So anyone that REALLY wants to sell their bike would do this.
Craigslist has gone to .

Sorry, i could have been more specific because i've done the same thing selling my last bike. I meant more along the lines of "can't find the title, etc" kind of stories.

Yeah but you're good people and have a solid reputation, I had no reason to doubt you weren't 100% honest, craigslist is a scary place these days.

youve been a member on a mutual forum and i'd have seen you around before finalizing the deal.

Not the case with Craiglist, its cut-throat brother.

Yes... CASH money, no checks, no rides... I sold my HD on CL and it was tough. Lots of scammers but 1 out of 25 will be legit. Mail or text the low ballers YOU. I hated that. i guess that society though.

Good Luck

Keep a gun on you when you meet them. Or better yet have a friend with you with a gun. Don't learn that lesson the hard way.

Read the sections "terms of use" and "about" if you haven't already.

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts on Craigslist.

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.

FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.

CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)

AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

DO NOT RENT HOUSING WITHOUT SEEING THE INTERIOR, OR PURCHASE EXPENSIVE ITEMS SIGHT-UNSEEN - in all likelihood that housing unit is not actually for rent and that cheap item does not exist.

DO NOT SUBMIT TO CREDIT CHECKS OR BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR A JOB OR FOR HOUSING UNTIL YOU HAVE MET THE INTERVIEWER OR LANDLORD/AGENT IN PERSON.

What me off more is all the dumb who think they can compare the price of my bikes for sale WITH clean and clear titles to some fucktwats "stolen/lost/divorced" title bike.
