What age can kids legally ride on the back of the bike?

I am asking cause the other day I was at the Harbor Freight and as I was walking up to it, a guy on an R1 passed by with a kid that there is no way in could be more than 4 years old.

He was tiny, had him wearing a kid's dirt bike helmet. I didnt have my Evo yet or I would have taken a picture. He was just wearing a shirt and pants. I almost ran up and pulled him off the bike and called the cops.

This had this kid out in Austin on toll road 45 and Parmer during heavy traffic. I really try to avoit this area on the bike during this time if all possible.

yamaha riders, getting as bad as the gixxer guys.

I don't think there's a legal minimum age, but knowing CPS, they could probably legally take your kids if one of their caseworkers had beef with it.

right. It's bad enough the risk we take riding, why would you put a kid that young in that situation?

yeah that me off as well. At least back when I was a kid you could at least fit in the front, between driver and tank. Can you imagine how heavy the helmet is to that kid.???

well you said you almost pull him off the bike and call the cop.... but you didn't. Instead of making a thread, you should have done something about it. just saying.

I was gonna stop the guy but he buzzed by, by the time I took the phone out, he had got to the light and was gone.

I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old so like this hits home.

Weird cause I was telling a friend about this and he said he was the guy buzzinfg down Parmer crossing over 45 with the kid.

So apparently he must go out with the kid a lot.

Now that I think about it, it might have been a gixxer he was on.

I was too dumbfounded by it to really notice the bike too much.

Just throwing out a what if... And its a BIG what IF

His 06 F150 was misfiring and turned out the spark plugs were worn and on the attempt to remove them the spark plug broke. He did not have to tool to extract the spark plug, while contemplating he calls his mechanic friend that has an R1 comes over to help, then he gets a call from St. Davids North MC that his wife went into an epileptic seizure. Not having another car his friend offered the R1, which is a big difference from his Goldwing where he always puts his kid when he rides and his non street legal dirtbikes, he did not want to leave his kid behind so he toolk him with him.

Again its a Big WHAT IF..

Point of the story, there may be more to it and it may be the first and last time he does it.

Point taken...
It may be the first and last time he does it. Kind of hard to put a dead kid on the back of a bike for a second ride.
I'm using the extreme situation of course.

Eltejano.... If you still want to do something about it, call the cops and have them keep an eye out in the area. They can stop him to check things out. just tell them the kids "LOOKS" to be about 3-4 and you are xoncerned about the kids well being.

Yeh, around the block and in full blown traffic in one of the worst itersections in town is a different story.

I take my 3 year old around the back yard and he sits in front of me.
