Daily Commuting

Hi guys, I just wanted to know, how many of you use your ride as a daily commuter.
Say I live north side (humble or so) and the office is at Galleria. Would you use your ride???

I do, but it's only about 8 miles each way. If you're going to drive pretty far then it may have mileage benefits.

Biggest reason for me is it helps me relax after work...stress free when I get home.

Well depends what time of the day your looking at. I personally won't ride in morning traffic. 59 has some insane drivers.

only if I was feeling suicidal... or put it this way. After spending years commuting around that area and/or having to go past/through that region... I avoid it like the friggin plague.

Hmm, that is not an option. I love kingwood area and on the other hand, I will be expected to travel a lot, so being close to the airport is a must! and BTW its the dream job so no way to look for something else, at least not for now

I'm about 20 miles from work and commute every day that I can.....even in winter when the temps in the 30's. I live north of Bush airport so the traffic is usually never a problem. If I had to go to the Galleria I would be crazy enough to do it.

It's 40 miles round trip and I get about 40mpg so that's a gallon of gas a day to get to work. Even at $4 a gallon that's $16 in gas a week. Even with tire changes and other maintenance it saves me a bunch in money every year. Definitely worth it. I've been doing it for 5 years so far. About 3 years ago I only missed 7 days out of the whole year. Not to mention that it's the best therapy out there.

If you always have a choice, don't commute. Leave the bike for fun. Commuting with a bike can be a huge PITA sometimes (i.e. rain, dumb drivers, heat, etc.)

I ride mine to work every day I can. About 48 miles a day. Love my GS500F, 55mpg. Some days are better than others. My commute is pretty easy. No traffic in the morning when I head to work, on the way home, it' or miss. But I never regret riding. Just be careful out there.

I am more concerned about traffic. Back in 1996, I lived in Kingwood and the office was at Btw8 near greenspoint. I was commuting with my bike quite often and it was fun, no mayor traffic jams...As mentioned in my introduction tho this forum, I might be relocating back to houston after 12 years so I have lost perspective of traffic nowadays...
