Depends on what you're using the bike for.
If I'm commuting a lot or even aggressive sport touring, and not doing trackdays, I'll never use the traction an SS tire has to offer.

I know some very fast guys that ride on Z6's and Pilot Roads with no traction issues at all.

Are the tires as sticky as say Pilot Powers?
No, but they stick well enough for them to go very fast on the street, yet get good mileage from them.
