that was an awesome race, elias :notworthy . I think pedrosa and nicky went to agressive too early in the game. HRC need to learn a little bit about Ferrari.

Pedrosa wipes out team-mate, title leader Hayden!

Hayden and Pedrosa, Spanish MotoGP, 2006
Dani Pedrosa has made one of the biggest mistakes ever seen in modern motorcycle grand prix racing - smashing into team-mate Nicky Hayden early in the Portuguese Grand Prix and destroying the American's world championship lead.

Hayden came into the penultimate race of the season with a 12 point lead over Valentino Rossi, who is now leading the race from Camel Yamaha team-mate Colin Edwards. Hayden was third at the time of the accident, which occurred when Pedrosa lost the front of his Repsol Honda while trying to re-pass the American on the inside as they entered a left hand turn.

The pass was never realistically going to work and Dani, having lost the front, slammed into the side of Hayden, sending them both cartwheeling into the gravel. Hayden was apoplectic with rage, removing his helmet and screaming with frustration. It must have taken every inch of his restraint to avoid throttling the young Spaniard, who appears to have broken a finger.

Should Rossi win he will take a 13 point lead over Hayden into the Valencia season finale...

Dani has wreck out of several races already this year for pushing it to hard, and isn't this the first race this year that Nicky got a DNF?

well, just finished the race.......I'm shocked at Elias, he's improoved a lot, he seems to have a deft touch on the brake. I'm also glad to see KRjr on the podium, and beyond imagination at that short, character-less midget called Pedrosa for taking out my boy Nicky.

Whoa that made for an interesting race. Elias was riding like(to quote)
the devil :laughing6 What an amazing race for Elias, Roberts with a podium finish....wow.

This will either be a good thing for NIcky or a bad thing.....I firmly believe his championship will be more creditable......as opposed to him leading all year and winning with no contention from the field. I know Nicky is not at race pace, but I believe this incident will light a fire under his a$$.

Yes, yes rossi is good blah blah, if valention hadn't had problems in the begining, Nicky would not be Blah bLAH. However, isn't this what we were all asking for.......as season finale with some nail bitting in between.

Rossi lovers...flame away

Did anyone else notice the team order for yamaha? or was it just me?

Why didn't the honda boys work something out amongst each other?

pedrosa made a very silly mistake, Hayden was pretty upset(understatement)
with his team mate. I know many people are mad at pedrosa, but again I think this will make the championship race that much sweeter for HAYDEN, should he win.

awesome race...better last lap! Finally the fields even out and Nicky has come to some misfortune like Rossi in the early races of this season. Now he knows what it feels like. Should make for a better last race w/ Rossi and Nicky w/ the only chance of winning.
